I'm beginning to upgrade my theater and I'm wondering if I should upgrade my klipsch rvx54 towers with new ones. 500.00 is my limit. Thanks

Welcome to the forum and I hope you have good experiences here. There's certainly a wealth of knowledge on what you're asking. The answers to your question are simple : YES. NO. and MAYBE.

One of the surest paths to a disappointing upgrade is to not understand what you're trying to fix. If you don't have a specific goal then what will mostly likely happen is disappointment.

Before anyone can give you a credible answer, figuring out what you need to improve with your current system is in order. What don't you care for? What needs a boost, trimming down, or changing because of the way it sounds? How big is your room? What type of components drive your theater and what do you typically listen to?
At what volume levels?

Those kinds of things drive decisions. More data and more information and the opinions will fly

What would you get for only $500? I doubt you'd do better myself, altho have no experience with your speakers but here is a link since I had to look them up https://www.klipsch.com/products/rvx-54-floorstanding-speaker
i am of the same opinion. $500 isn't enough oooomph to qualify as a real upgrade for most speakers.
But, until the OP sets down some targets on what he'd like to improve, I'm happy to just stand pat and wait.
$500 just aint what it used to be

How about a sub, $500 can get you a decent one.

I have a pinnacle supersonic sub that's been good so far. Do you think I could get a better one for 500.00?

Probably knowing what I do about Pinnacle but have no idea what specific model you have....pinnacle supersonic brought up a variety of results in a search, more referred to subsonic. Specific model number or link to manual would be nice. I did see one that was supposedly a dual 12" but without a lot of info, a dual opposed 12" could be pretty good, but depends on actual spec for other than driver diameter. $500 is about entry level these days for the better subs.

It has dual 12s with 800 watts peak and this might sound strange but I had it paired with a velodyne minivee and they sounded great. Unfortunately lightning got my minivee.

Sounds like it could be decent, but depends still on spec....no specific model number or links to any hard information?

It says pinnacle and model is supersonic
That somewhat matches up to an old Amazon ad I found using supersonic and mentioning dual 12" (but not particular configuration, is yours dual opposed driven drivers or is it perhaps even one active driver and one passive radiator? ).. Pinnacle subs generally were on the cheap/low performing side from what I've seen generally but yours sounds like th best one of theirs I've ever heard of otoh....
