Denon AVR A110 PRE OUT General Question

Hello,
I recently bought my first AV receiver - a Denon AVR A110, and I ran into a situation that I have been unable to figure out.
I'm using an HDMI from the eARC of a Sony A80J to the eARC of the A110. Assign Mode is set to "Pre Amplifier", sound mode is set to "Direct". I'm under the impression that all of the Pre Outs on the rear, with the exception of Zone2/3 off, should output a signal while in "Pre Amplifier" mode, however, play back only seems to be present on the "Front" "R" & "L" speakers, and the display clearly indicates this as only the FL & FR lights are on. Is there a solution to get all the rear "pre outs" on? Seems Strange.

Direct discontinues processing. Use music mode, and select the mode you like best, like Dolby Digital Surround for instance.

Consider as well the audio output of the TV and make sure you have made the proper settings there. If it is outputting two channel PCM, direct mode will always result in just two channel playback. The passthrough setting in the TV should be set to Auto for multi channel playback.
