LOL,
I get a kick out of this when I search for my old system.... I bought mine new at a Roadway Express salvage store with a dinged box more than 20 years ago. Mine was a 5.1 system with four shielded surrounds (and center) with the PSW100 sub. I've since upgraded to using three shielded center speakers for the fronts and two PSW300 subs.
I don't mind outdated equipment....but I almost upgraded to an Miller & Kreisel Sound Corp Lucasfilm THX Select surround sound system recently. It was an earlier version (probably 5 years newer than my Polk). I missed the bidding and it went for $150...... How much better would it have been? Tell me I shouldn't feel really bad... I'm having non-buyers remorse.
So, how much should I spend to upgrade? I'm using a Yamaha TSR-6750WABL 7.2 Receiver at the moment and would like to upgrade to Atmos some day. My set up is in a cavernous concrete wall box 11' high, 18' wide, 25' deep. I'll add acoustic panels at some point.... and I have a 175" diagonal screen for my projector. I'm fairly satisfied with my old system but not opposed to an update when I eventually "upgrade" to an Atmos compatible receiver. What should I start shopping for that might be a noticeable upgrade?
Sincerely,
Karl
