Denon increases AVR prices for 2022

Is it just my memory going bad or did Denon just increase the prices of their x2700h, x3700, x4700h, x6700h by $100 for 2022? (Marantz prices remained the same). They started using the inferior PCM1502A DAC and now they're charging customers more for less quality sound?

In the UK, the x3700h is now $1,750. The x4700h is $3,400. The x6700h is $3650. Charging these prices for an AVR with a less quality DAC is reprehensible.

Everything is going UP, my friend. Just have to get used to it and live with it or complain. You want things bad enough, you'll have to pay for it or not.

I am still wishing for psb Imagine XB, FL and FR speakers, which went up in price, and never go on sale. I might break loose, one of these days. lol

I don't mind paying more for equipment that has been improved. But I will never pay more for a product that has less quality than its predecessor. hahaha. That's just me though. There is nothing I want that I would pay more for less. You just made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the laughter. Good luck on your speakers.

The UK sells in USD now? Wow. That Brexit stuff can be weird :)

Interesting about Marantz if it stays that way, they gonna stop trying to market it as a superior product?

How does that work? I went on the UK website for Denon and everything is listed in pounds. When you put something in the cart, it asks you which currency you'd like to pay in? Why wouldn't everyone just choose dollars and save $200-$600 on these units?

LOL got me. I was just curious more about your conversions....actually would prefer to see the prices in local currency in any case.

They are definately going to continue to market themselves as a superior product. They want Marantz to start competing with Arcam, Anthem and NAD. Maybe starting in 2022 (is what I've read). I expect Marantz AVR prices to go up a lot higher than Denon by the Fall of next year (if the rumors are true).

Which varies, which is why I prefer local currency, also I used to deal in various currencies in international logistics so just old habit to use local currencies.....

US pricing did go up. The 3700 is listed now at $1599 on their website from 1499 the other day.

Oh, I see what you mean now. Are you from the UK? Do Denon/Marantz prices match US prices in people's opinions? Or do people in the UK feel like they pay "more" than Americans for the same AVRs?

Compared to my AVR-X4200W that I bought (in Sweden) six years ago the X4700H cost 67% more with not much to show for it.

For me the Audyssey app along with pre-amp mode is the things I’m interested in, and the pre-amp mode only of I switch over to active monitors.

It’s not a given that the Audyssey app with possibility to restrict the frequency range for EQ will be an improvement.

Whatever they charge in Pounds, the conversion rate to USD is not favorable. Same with Euros.

If they have no control over the cost and availability of the components that go into their products, would you really expect the price to the consumer to remain the same?

There's a shortage of almost everything in electronics- try to fine a broad line of TVs, AVRs, etc. Cable boxes are in short supply- if the cable companies can't get the products they need, we're not going to get what we want.

We have paid more for worse for a long time- the difference is that now, it's much easier to do a comparison.

No but we have members from all over so seeing the specific currency might make more sense, even tho USD is widely quoted in general. It's just different in each country, different distribution/retail, taxes, etc. but the one country that seems to get hit hard on audio costs particularly is Australia...and somewhat in Canada.....New Zealand too IIRC....I'm sensing a pattern here :)

Why would you think that other countries would adopt the dollar as their official currency when they A) existed before the US, B) have a currency that works perfectly well and C) would require forcing their people to learn it?

If you're comparing the price, £ vs $ requires conversion- you wouldn't save money by using a different currency. Did the price show anything about VAT (Value Added Tax)? They pay that, we don't. Also, what about line voltage?

Really it was inevitable and I won't be surprised if they go up another 50 or 100 bucks by next the end of this year.
