Supercube 4000 vs DN10

That's a very good point and I thought about that to save some money. The only thing is that the supecube 4000 has been my only point of reference so I haven't really been exposed to other subs. I'm really new to all this.

It seems like the general consensus is the PB1000 and the monolith. The monolith looks pretty intimidating lol but because of the size I'm not sure if it'll look good in my space.

See if Best Buy stores have other subs like SVS that you can audition.

Now subs are very important. But Sub EQ is also very important. In my experience, I would never use a sub without some kind of bass-EQ - it is NOT about boosting the sub levels or gains.

In other words, if you are NEW to this, you might want to learn more about sub EQ and see if your sub is even set up optimally BEFORE buying anything else. Now after you have done that, you can buy as many subs as you like.

I would not recommend auditioning subwoofers at any Best Buy or many other retail locations. In my experience they rarely have things set up correctly, or in some cases they set up the one thing that they wanna sell that month correctly so it blows all the other stuff away in the showroom that's not set up optimally.

In home demos for subs is really about the only way to really get an idea of how it's gonna perform in your room. I'd say the same for speakers but if you know to defeat any eq and roughly level match I think you can get a decent idea of how a speaker sounds in a showroom. Below the Schroeder frequency tho, the room is in charge and a sub has to be set up properly to optimize the acoustics, and every room is different.

I also firmly believe that almost anything from SVS or Monolith (and my vote goes to Monolith, much better bang for buck) will blow the doors off that SC4000.

I vote for quality of sound over aesthetics, myself... but this comes down to personal preference and your goals. We shouldn't decide that for you. But I would wager that if you tried any of the new Subs suggested, you would likely not be disappointed.

That's very true Ryan! I'm looking at the Monolith that Pogre referenced and it looks super promising. The only thing is I have to take into consideration the aesthetics part of it because it's important for my wife. Nonetheless, it looks like I'm leaning towards dual PB1000 Pro's, unless I convince my wife about the monolith.

I agree with steering away from listening at Best Buy last time I tried to listen to speakers there, I was asking about the calibration and the rep couldn't answer. Also, they had other speakers on while I was trying to listen to others. Although the Monolith is better and I would like that option over the PB1000 Pro, I may have to go with the PB's unless my wife is ok with the amount of space they would take.

The nice thing about SVS is the return policy and customer bill of rights. Don't kid yourself that it's all free... it's built into their pricing. Regardless, order up and try it out... if you don't like it, send it back and you're done.

For your room, I would encourage looking at the PB or PC 2000 Pros... but I think the PB 1000s would work well. At least they will be much better than the DT supercubes or whatever.

I do think the Monoliths will be a better performer, still, but as I said, it's your home... not ours.

I do think you will be very happy with a pair of PB1000 Pros. On the off chance that you're not SVS has excellent customer service and a very generous return policy with full refunds and free shipping both ways so it's totally risk free.

I'd still try to push for the Monos, but either option is a good one. I've used the chat option on SVS' site several times with questions and always got a quick reply during business hours. If you tell them your total room volume and what you're planning to buy they're super helpful in letting you know if you made the right choice. They won't try to up sell you unnecessarily either.
