What are you trying to do, get video from the avr into the tv? What legacy video (and what specific make/model of gear) are you trying to route this way?

What specific model of tv is it?

If you're trying to get audio from the tv to the avr, what are the tv's audio output options? Usually an analog or optical connection....

By the way, strange subforum to post this in....probably general a/v discussion or a coupla others make more sense than Contest Giveaways from Audioholic Partners or do I get a prize from you for answering your questions? :)

What tv is that, tho? When I search Samsung OLED55CXPUA I get results for LG sets altho I also see an article that Samsung did finally make a deal with LG for OLED sets earlier this year.

If it is the LG set seems they don't make it easy and simply provide an optical or analog audio out. What a pain, they expect you have HDMI ARC....

The converter you're showing appears to take composite signals from your avr and convert it to hdmi....which might work if you wanted to send something from the avr to the tv, but that wouldn't do you any good for getting audio back from the tv, tho.

ARC (Audio Return Channel) HDMI extractor seems more what you want, something like this https://www.amazon.com/ARC-to-Analog-Audio-Converter/dp/B00ZJPTKH0, might be a digital version so you can use coax or optical inputs on your avr.

Is there really no optical output on that TV? Easiest way to connect the two for sure.

No indication in the manual, just starts talking about hdmi....but that was an LG manual, so if it's something Samsung modified....

Thank you for the great idea and hopefully solution ‘hd!
Yeah, my bad on the LG (not Samsung-my other tv).
And yes, there was something regarding posting for contest entry. You sounded smart (I was right) so I started following you.
This is my first post.
So, just to make sure- this is the one you were talking about?

Get yourself an optical cable and connect the TV’s optical output to the receiver’s optical TV/SAT input.
