Banana plugs on Audioquest Type 4 tarnished?

Seriously, I have no life.
Those plugs just look DIRTY. DeOxit should clean them up just fine. Though you priobabaly already spent too much on those connectors. I like BFA style, but those ones are insanely priced. I use these:

Those plugs that the OP showed a photograph of just look extremely nasty. I would never use those in my system ever. They are junk pure and simple.

These are my favorite banana plugs.

The Cinemaquest/Audioquest plugs in the OPs pic are silver plated not gold, so they are simply tarnished. One of the reasons nobody uses silver... Even if you clean them, they will tarnish again.

I’ve often thought of trying this style do they fit tight in the binding post .
I prefer this style because you can just insert a pencil into the tip and make them as wide or narrow as needed, so they always fit tight. They have a slight spring action and compress as you insert them, so they tend to stay tight all the time. They can be a bit more fragile though, don't really lend themselves to a lot of lateral pulling. I had one set of speakers with an odd size binding post and these were the only ones that would stay.

On my amp side, I use locking ones:

I used some of the locking type on my 4S11 cables for my front mains on the amp side they do hold pretty good and used the mono price on the speaker side they work good too . I also used Ferrules that you crimp on that make a good solid connection to insert into the plugs with a little practice they work with twisted pairs like on the 4S11 it really helps then I used heat shrink wrap to clean up the look . I did my front stage this way 5 speakers I’d like to do the rear and side surrounds to but these are very long runs and that will have to Waite for funds to start that side of it . But Iam happy with the outcome. I really like the canare cable .
