Digital Music Player question

Hello,

May i ask a question regarding Digital Music Player?

If I am to use only optical output to feed .wav files to my amplifier, Are there any differences between the expensive units (costing several thousand of dollars) versus a less expensive unit such Denon DNP-800NE?

Thanks,

Kiet

What do you mean "optical output to feed .wav files to my amplifier" - That makes no sense.

What equipment, specifically, are you using? Are you looking for a recommendation on a music server of some sort?

If you are, then the Bluesound equipment is often highly recommended as a purely streaming device. Likewise, you can get things like Sonos which work well, but Bluesound seems to get the nod for great quality.

I assume you then have a proper AV receiver of some type which you are using as a preamp/amplifier to take in the Toslink connection.

I'm not sure where you are storing these WAV files, or where you are getting them from, but you just need a network streaming device with a reasonable interface. The bulk of what you buy will be about the interface you get, which will dictate the ease of use. It will actually be a smaller part of the expense which goes towards the hardware itself. Any digital audio, streamed throughout your home, should come out of the playback device with excellent quality.

Hi BMXTRIX,
Thank you for the info provided in your post.

What I am trying to do is the following.
Ripping my CD in .wav format and store them on a external HD.
My high end Integrated Amp has a digital audio inputs (coaxial, and optical). So I am looking for Digital Media player that has digital output which is processed by my integrated amp.

Thanks,

Kiet

If you want good quality, I would likely get a Node 2i from Bluesound...

Seriously - Post a make a model so people can actually take a look at what you have and be sure we are making the proper recommendations. Why do people find this so difficult on forums to be specific? It's even better if you provide the link to the product page so that others can just go right to it rather than having to look it up themselves.

Hi all,
I am thinking of getting the Bluesound node, and have it connected to my Integrated Amp to play my music from an external portable HD. Any comments?

Thanks,

Kiet

My answer is no there is no difference in sound quality as long as you BITSTREAM the digital file to your preamp/amp/AVP/AVR.

If you have a Yamaha Stereo Receiver, AVR, AVP or MusicCast Turntable, you would already have MusicCast music streamer built-in.

I bitstream my music files from my Windows 10 PC to my Yamaha CX-A5100 and RX-A3080 everyday. It works great for me 100% of the time, even when my home internet is down.

If not, you could also get the $350 MusicCast preamp WXC-50.

I went a head I got a Bluesound Node 2i from my local dealer. Can't wait to try it out.
Thank you all
