Made my decision on my A/V Home Theater

Thanks for all of your advise in my previous thread. After reading your post and doing research on my own, I came up with my decision. I just ordered the Yamaha RX-V6A as my receiver. It was everything I was looking for: ATMOS, Bluetooth, AirPlay, 7.2 channels (I know not exactly), great looks, and reliable reputation. As for speaker, I will be trying my older B&W (can remember model, the are a 600 series with Kevlar drivers and a metallic tweeter) abd my matching center. I am hoping they are still in good condition because they haven't been used for at least 4 years. I thumped the driver and it gave our a solid response so I hope that’s a good sign. If the don’t work then I will get the B&W Mini M1’s. They sounded great. The B&W will be partially blocked by the TV because I only have 8” on each side and the speakers are 10” wide. The center has s much worse, I have 3” clearance and center is 5” high. Have to figure that out. I also bought a pair of Sony SSCSE ATMOS speakers. Further update when I get it all installed. What do you all think?

I can't imagine putting my speakers behind a tv so they'd be somewhat blocked. Can't put them on stands further to the sides and in front? Good luck with the B&W 6 series, many here have tasted that flavor and didn't care much for it (me included for a few models) but YMMV. Reusing speakers you have and like is a good way to save some money and time, tho If the surrounds on the drivers are in good shape and nothing in the crossover has gone bad, they're likely fine otherwise. Nice avr!

I don’t care too much on the Speakers being partially blocked either. Looking at the speakers there is about an inch between the driver and the edge of the speaker so I hope it doesn’t affect the sound much. The center will be affected so I am think on not using the center as of right now. My wife won’t let me to put any stands in front of the entertainment center. If all else fails, I can get the Mini M1 but I hope this set up works.

These are the B&W speakers I had for a long time that I will be using. They are DM 602S2. The center will not be used, see picture and it will tell you why. I put the 602 in in the spot in front of the TV and there is a smaller over lap then I thought. I do hope the 602 work.

Blocking part of the screen will be more annoying than blocking part of the speaker. Hopefully there's enough room to move the TV forward and fit the speakers behind. If you are sitting relatively close you may not hear the difference.

For the centre speaker, try using painters tape or masking tape to pull the dents out of the dust caps. You could build a shelf with 3 pieces of wood to put over the centre speaker and set the TV on, or wall mount the TV, or mount the centre above the TV on the wall.

The other issue with the center speaker is that the tweeter (between the two drivers) is missing. I was planning on putting the speakers behind the TV, I just wanted to show how much would be blocked. I will be re-placing the center. My main concerns, are the 602 still in good working order. I will find out tomorrow, when I put the system together.

About a 20 year old speaker? They should be fine. I don't think that model is susceptible to foam rot on the woofer surrounds and the cross-overs should still be ok.

I set it up yesterday and the speakers work perfect. I ordered a Definitive Tech ProCenter 1000 off of eBay for my center channel. The Sony SS-CSE ATOMS speakers work like a gem. I am very happy with the set-up. BTW, the V6A is a nice receiver.
