I know there's other sites in regards, but why not adapt it here, we're all audioholics old gear or new. I love my old triads and just picked up a jvc ja-s11

Should have known you'd be the first to jump lol...there's a sound bar sub...why not an old beat up sub...anything old just goes to diy I suppose.
Seems all too often the word vintage in connection with audio simply means old for the purrposes of selling old gear at high prices, just seeking clarification. :)

One of my vintage/old (seems some consider it one, some the other, am in the latter camp myself) Carver amps started making a bad transformer noise and had to take it out of service until I can find an appropriately vintage repair guy to work on it....

Good luck, if I remember correctly, its a 'magnetic field amp' and bob should have stayed away from other projects. They are solid when running but need alot of service, not worth it to me.

35 or so years of use....he did come up with marketable terms, tho don't think there's much to mfa particularly that's rocket science.
