Denon 4700h / outlaw 5000 amp

Good evening,
I have a Denon 4700 AVR with a Outlaw AMP ...my question is this...when setting up trigger 1 out from the receiver to the AMP what setting would I pair it with on the general set up screen?....doesn’t seem to do anything shutting down or turning on the AVR...thank you!

Trigger Out 1 / Trigger Out 2

Select the conditions for activating trigger out.
For details about how to connect the TRIGGER OUT jacks, see TRIGGER OUT jackslink.
When setting for zone (MAIN ZONE / ZONE2 / ZONE3)
Trigger out is activated through linkage to the power of the zone set to “On”.
When setting for input source
Activate trigger out when the input source set to “On” is selected.
When setting for HDMI monitor
Activate trigger out when the HDMI monitor set to “On” is selected.

On:	Activate trigger on this mode.
– – –:	Do not activate trigger on this mode.

So I went to main zone (main feed only) and I went trigger #1 then scrolled down to monitor hdmi 1 which is my main out into receiver......I also tried tuner, home theater setting which is my main on/off through my harmony remote....any suggestions? Thanks

Why not just set everything to "ON" for both trigger 1 and 2? except HDMI, unless you have a reason to set it to ON.

If that still won't work then you know it is not the setting, but probably you minijack cable.

Denon specified: "Use a monaural mini-plug cable for connecting the TRIGGER OUT jacks. Do not use a stereo mini-plug cable."

It’s awesome but I sold the 5000 and went with the 7000…7 channel Outlaw…

What is the most noticable thing you feel that the outlaw brings?.

Obviously taking the burden of the main amplifiers from the AVR will allow a much cooler operating environment..

Q. I have a pretty big HSU VTF 15 subwoofer I'm wondering how that would integrate with it....

Obviously taking the burden of the main amplifiers from the AVR will allow a much cooler operating environment..

Assuming you use your amps/AVR within their limits, for normal use, it will only run much cooler if you set Eco mode to "On" instead of off or auto.

Other than that there won't be any noticeable if you meant "sound quality". The Outlaw amps are class AB design and designed for transparency, that for intentional distortions. Unfortunately there are so many hearsay that may have led/cause many to believe that any time you add an "amp" to an AVR you will hear improved sound quality, including more details, sound stage opens up, more impactful dynamics, warmer sound, some even claimed night and day kind of difference heard, even the wife could tell a difference etc........

Not always, but in many cases such as this because the specific devices have been bench tested with a whole host of tests, not just THD+N. So there are sufficient evidence to support the belief that both amps won't be the bottleneck in most hifi/HT setups if output power requirements are not the issue.

From the results, it would appear that the AVR should actually do better on paper on its own, than used with the M5000 Outlaw amp, provided the internal amps are used well below its output limits. I am not sure if the M7000 would do better than the M5000 but it seems reasonable to expect the two would perform similarly well.

It's also my actual experience when I've added various power amps to various avrs. Mostly about a bit better spl capabilitiy, perhaps impedance handling....
