Emo MC700 died a second time

Went to go fire it up and noticed it was just blinking orange, not the normal constant light purple to indicate passthrough is happening. I will likely send it in for repair, but I don't think I will put it back in my main system. About 2 years ago the main board had a failure and had to be replaced. I seem to recall I only had to pay for the shipping, which was cool, but having the same problem again doesn't really get me jazzed. Now looking at options to replace it.

EMO gear is junk. If you repair it, it will still be junk.

Your choices are Marantz or Yamaha. I have been very happy with Marantz pre/pros. I have three in use and one in storage. I have been really happy with my 7705 now two years old. Its replacement is the 7706. That is probably your best bet.

I was already looking to replace it with a Marantz earlier this year until all that stuff happened with my car and I ended up having to buy another car. 7705 and 7706 were the first on my list

I've had zero issues with their amps, but I've had issues with the processors so far. Had zero issues with my old Marantz SR8300 receiver over the course of 10 years.

To be fair, I think Emo had a good run with some pretty good stuff esp at the price.

The last few years, I question a lot of their products and decisions.

I think you will be pleased with that unit. Just make sure you load the latest firmware before using it. My unit got off to a rocky start until downloading quite a large number of firmware updates. The biggest problem is that it could randomly send some very nasty turn on and turn off thumps, that could be speaker destroying.
That really should have been sorted before release. I did buy one of the early ones, but units often come with very out of date firmware.
