Need AVR recommendation for my setup

I'm in need of an AVR but not sure what I should get for my setup. I'd appreciate any advice on what I should get. There is someone local to me that has a basically brand new Sony STRZA1000ES that I could get for $250, if that would be good to get?

My budget is $400 for new or Used.

My current setup:

Klipsch RP-600M Bookshelf Speakers (not what I wanted but was influenced by the $377 sale price)
Pro-ject Esprit Turntable
Klipsch SS-1 Surround Speakers
12- gauge Pure OFC wire

REPLACING
Sansui C-1000 Stereo Control Amp (Right Output either doesn't work at all or it cuts in and out)
Sansui B-3000 Stereo Power Amp

Depends what you want it to do generally for connectivity/features so might expand on that part first....

Turntable and TV. Using the Bookshelf speakers and Surround speakers. I know I'll need a seperate Phono Preamp with the Sony STRZA1000ES to use my turntable but it seems like a good deal for it regardless, no? (and also provides plenty of room for expanding my inputs/outputs in the future). I just don't much about receivers as it pertains to quality.

If you're prepared for an external phono stage, that would help with options (or just get a unit with one built-in). Just depends on now and in the future as well and how you want to connect things. I can't imagine just a tt and tv as source myself. At this moment am listening to an older lower end Sony avr in my hide-from-heat room in the basement, but via a digital feed via a bluray player, and it's just as fine audio-wise as my several other avrs (an Onkyo and two Denons, but higher end and later tech than the Sony). In a brief search/look at the one you mention I don't see a full set of pre-outs, which I'd prefer.

Hi,

You don't need much to do a stereo setup. And if you're looking to do a Quad setup with 4 bookshelves, any 5.1 capable receiver will do this. Depends on if your goal is a good 2 channel setup, or if your goal includes actual surround (upmixing) of stereo source or if you plan to use multi-track audio.

I'd look at a Yamaha V-385 or V-485 or maybe Denon S750H or similar in that range. This gives you plenty of stereo power, plenty of surround choices, and the ability to add bass management if you ever wanted to add a sub or two. Solid units for a good price.

Alternatively if you do not need upmixing surround, you can get really great power amps in this range.
