Hi All,
Hope you and your family are doing fine.
I wanted to know what is the ideal room size for tower speakers as front channel in a home theatre...
Any specific calculatio to tell us if this speaker fits in to a room or not
Can we use audessey room corrections and put bigger speakers (towers and center) in a small room.....
Apologies for too many questions in single thread...
This question gets asked by a lot of people considering setting something up in a new room. Are my speakers too small for the space? Are my speakers too big for the space? I think that
@AcuDefTechGuy hit it pretty close to correct. Accurate speakers will work in just about any environment.
When I set up my music room a few years ago, I didn't have a lot of choices in my house. I chose the room I had. Its a 10x10x10 cube. Worst possible size and shape for a serious listening room. Add to that, I wanted full sized tower speakers. Sounds like a terrible thing right ? Well, like so many other things in life, where there's a will there's a way.
I chose Salk Songtower 3 speakers. These are full figured girls and nobody in their right mind would call them small. Or even medium. They are big boned girls. But before I acquired them I called the owner of the company (who also makes bookshelf speakers of some renown) Jim Salk and we talked about my room size and whether or not the Songtowers would work or even perform. Like
@AcuDefTechGuy said though, they are accurate as the day is long and make an excellent sounding speaker in a near field setup like mine. There are compromises in a near field set up. But, dang, I would chose this setup again and again after what I hear every day in there.
Is there an ideal room size for towers verses book shelves? I'm sure some of the super technical folks can make an argument in favor of that idea. Good quality accurate speakers however will sound great just about anywhere though. On the flip slide, poor quality or low quality will sound like shiz no matter what you do.
Audessy and REW and lots of help from AH members help me get mine dialed in. Where there's a will there's a way. I don't think there's a magic bullet answer of yes or no based on size.
