Advice with LARGE HT room

My media room is a converted space (enclosed addition over abandoned pool). Serves as game room also. Approx 45' w x 60' l with 10 ft ceiling (acoustic tile). Floor is wooden truss with carpet. Existing 82" uhd tv is dwarfed but love it. Older 5.1 yamaha receiver with polk speakers. Really have to drive audio hard.

Long term plan to carve out space for master BR/bath so would cut space about in half (should help). Have looked at Focal Aria 948, Klipsch. Overwhelmed. Am in remote WY so near impossible to audition in person.

HT 70%, music 30%. Much appreciate suggestions, recs on how2 proceed. Budget about $10k. Would consider in wall/ceiling. Will do install myself.

Tentatively, keep 82" tv and put $ into receiver, speakers for now. Open to separates.

TIA!!

How loud do you like to listen?
What's ultimately going to be your viewing distance?
How many speakers do you want in your set up IE 5.2.4, or 7.2.4 etc etc. ?
How many rows of seating do you want?
Are you willing to buy used?

You said approximately half the space, so 22.5' × 30' × 10' = 6750 cubic feet, which is a very big room still to fill with sound.

We all have our budgets, but 10k isn't a lot if you also need to include a new AVR. I'm not saying you can't get it done for that much, but with a room that size in order to fill it with the sound you'll need, I think 10k will be stretching it.

With a little more information, I'm sure you'll get a lot of feedback.

Cheers.

I can imagine many things a room that large would dwarf but cutting it in half would certainly help, altho still quite large. I'm not much of a fan of Klipsch myself and no Focal experience particularly. What aesthetic requirements do you have? Could you perhaps go for a room filler like these?

ps With high sensitivity speakers like that even your old Yamaha would probably drive them to very loud levels :)

Thanks both! With this tv, view about 12 feet. Later on, maybe a projector setup with real theatre seating since there's room. Music preference is classic rock (Doobies, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan....). Plus some jazz (Coltrane, Klugh...). Generally, I prefer music listening volume to match the soundstage, not uber loud. For movies, the center channel/dialogue is a big deal...as important as special effects. Not necessarily IMAX fan but do like big scores. Actually play movies louder than music.

The JBLs are interesting! Never considered cinema speakers. No doubt they would fill the space with quality sound. I'll need to do some research but would these function as L/C/R? As in a pair up front? Add in ceiling for Atmos/surround?

Would I get audiophile stereo with music or need to get separates?

Really appreciate responses.

Most would say no just on aesthetics alone :) Altho behind an acoustically transparent screen or similar that could be alleviated. They'd be terrific for both music and movies I think depending on how well you do your setup. You are an audiophile, a speaker is not. So if you use the speaker, its now an audiophile speaker as long as you are enthusiastic about high fidelity audio reproduction :) With a tv depends how high the tv is mounted, not sure if there is a shorter configuration for center. Mixing surrounds or Atmos shouldn't be too difficult, altho matching the high sensitivity could pose some challenges.

Other JBLs like the Studio 5 series (which I have) could be an option. @Danzilla31 I think is going to be moving on from his so maybe you guys could make a deal....altho JBL has traditionally periodically had terrific sales on them. The weak part is the center 520C for the series; recently I replaced mine with an Infinity RC263 for a bit more heft but probably try to find something more in the JBL Cinema line if I were going with the ones I linked....

At 12 feet away many speakers will work well, in a space like that your subwoofage can get swallowed up more easily....what do you have in the way of subs now?

Another thought for you is JTR speakers. Like the Noesis 210/212/215RT series....and their subwoofers are awesome as well.

Damn those JBLs are ugly as sin. If you're not concerned about asthetics TS, then yeah those are a good choice. 2 of them are going to run you about 1/2 your budget. They also have:

And:

2 of those fronts, 4 of the Surrounds and 2 of the subwoofers will put you right close to your 10k budget.
