Yes a great point

Honestly I think having the mini dsp hd 2x4 is a bit of a no brainer. It makes adjusting eq so easy. It’s not a cheap device but I wouldn’t take my money back for it that’s for sure

I dialed in with REW but probably still have a few iterations to go. But it sounds good. I need to really put some source content to it in order to determine it's capability. But it seems like a permanent fixture back there. I'd never want to return it that's for sure. It would be a lot of trouble to put back in the box and on the pallet :)
That is one sexy beast! I just love the way it looks. It looks like a Monolith. You can tell it means business and that cab looks super inert. I almost talked myself into getting one, but as fate would have it, that RBH 1212NR fell in my lap while I was contemplating it. I even started a thread with an image of your sub in the op!

Well, fell in my lap as in I was scouring the classifieds for subwoofers, found it, threw my money at the seller and raced home with it, lol. It's funny tho because it's a similar design and just happened to pop up when I was looking at the Monolith. It doesn't dig quite as deep, but with the right amp I think it'll match output.

I'm going to have to invest in one soon. I'm going to go from 2 subs to likely 4, though 3 was my goal. ;)

The bigger question is, are you still mixing sealed subs with ported..?

Pogre,

Yes I am, but I'd say it's working for me as best I can tell. From REQ, they are pretty incremental in the mid bass area. I put in HPF to cut them off prior to their limits on the bottom end.

See below, the green is the monolith only and before filters.

The blue includes the nearfield ML Dynamo's with filter

I'll have to work on it a little more but overall seems to sound good together. But I might be missing something. Let me know, other than the measurements is there anything else I should be looking at to see if they work well together or don't

Thanks Dan. I'm sorry I wasn't quicker to post. Honestly I didn't really NEED it (do we ever) but at that price I just had to give it a shot. I figure we rarely regret buying quality

That is a great find. And that monolith would not have worked nearfield as well as that RBH. At under $1K you did real well with that one. Plus that one sure does look good.

Hoping the AMP and Sub last a long time. I kind of like that yours is passive as if your AMP dies you just easily replace it. Does your MINI DSP do the lifting anyways on EQing it so no need for AMP that is unique to the sub right?

How did you get it so cheap? I bought two monolith 15s yesterday and I think I paid too much. I want to say they were a little under $1300 each.

I just found it 15% off with SPLASH promo few weeks back. I guess I should of bought them and saved $300.

Yup, they were running a promo for a while.

Ok so I officially closed the door on my change to the Monolith 215. I sold my Klipsch R-115SW and the backup plate AMPs I had for those. They are a part of my history. Not a bad tradeoff I'd say.

Now I have to try to pretend I don't "Need" anything else

Wait, did you sell your ported subs and keep the sealed ones? That's the opposite of what I would do... Are you using your sealed subs elsewhere now or are you trying to blend ported and sealed subs still?

Yes, I'd have to show you the room but those ported would not fit anywhere and look ok. I tried.

The sealeds are part of the blue sweep below chart compared to the mono which is green. Using minidsp and a HPF on the sealed, I think they are incremental and they look very good in the room as they are out in the open. The Mono is hidden behind the TV in a corner. I'd either have to get rid of the ML Dyanmo's (ML 1500x and 1000w) and just use the mono or use them nearfield which is what I'm doing.

Value all you guys experience but they did seem to contribute in the below and it sounds fine. Not sure if there is something I'm missing though where I would benefit from getting rid of them.

The blue curve is quite good, and that infrasonic bump should be fun on movie night. Should sound pretty good!
