Hey,

I am completely new to this sub and hobby.

I just bought a LG CX 77" ($2250)

I want to buy once and cry once.

My setup so far:

Emotiva Airmotiv C1+ - $250

JBL Stage A130 - $250

Yamaha RX-V681 7.2 - $270

I just need a subwoofer.

I have an irregular open space.

I want this to be my end game for the next 5-10 years.

All of the subs listed are in my final price range.

(HSU VTF-2 MK5 VS Rythmik LV12F VS SVS PB-1000 Pro)

Which would you go with ?

Main use will be gaming/youtube/movies/music.

(I guess everything you could possibly do with audio)

I am also contemplating going dual sub, but I know that placement is FAR more important than anything else.

I would greatly appreciate any and all help you could provide.

Whaddya mean, you don't want duals? Come on, use both sub pre-outs :) Yes, placement is important but multiple subs can counter the room's modes somewhat better than even careful setup of a single....but depends if you care about any other than your own seat to an extent. Don't think your avr particularly provides for separate setup of two differently placed subs, tho (does it allow separate level/delay for the different sub pre-outs?). Using two equidistant subs can work, tho.

Subs like those just made me want more. :) How big is your room? Listening levels in spl?

Without any more info I'd tend to the Hsu myself but none of them are that far apart from each other to matter much otoh.

Oh I DO Want dual subs !!!

My living room bleeds into my dining room, kitchen and main hallway.

I do not even know where to start for listening levels.

Why the Hsu ??

I like the flexibility of setup inherent in different pre-set modes on the Hsu. Never been too impressed with the servo tech. Just feel generally Hsu offers a bit more value for the $. Then again I just build my own for my last several subs, too. Big open space you might need to be more nearfield than trying to pressurize the whole space, but depends on placement options too. Listening levels you can maybe measure with an spl meter app on your phone to start if you don't have better ways of going about it?

Just measured it

35-40db.

Is that what you are looking for ?

So your vote is for the HSU ?

Hard to believe you hear much at 35-40 dB...that's just the typical noise floor for many folks' rooms. Was that at your seat? Listening to what particularly? What weighting in the app and which app? Then again phone mics leave a lot to be desired in some cases. Personally I listen more in the range of 65dB average with up to 85dB or so peaks...at my seat, sometimes louder, sometimes softer. Might want to play around with something like this http://myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html

My vote generally goes for the whole package, I like to get the best deal I can. I usually know what I want and am willing to give up some of the fringe aspects. The SVS package can have value in terms of their in-home trial terms as well as trade-up options down the line. Depends on how that value works for you, not to say Hsu doesn't have good customer service, it's just different.

The reality is the differences are relatively slight depending on your demands....all are good choices.

lol ok, I measured the app in a silent room.

Should I be playing music, while I measure.

Yes :) Was wondering about your average listening levels. Movies have more consistent recording methods than music so sometimes a better reference. Altho I will tell you with a sub you're likely to turn it up more :)

I'm probably in the same range as you than.
65dB average with up to 85dB or so peaks.

I am leaning towards the SVS PB-1000 pro because I do not have a DSP.

Well your avr certainly has dsp for sub management. Maybe not the best, but certainly viable. Those levels make much more sense :) Doubt any of those subs would be stressed in any case under those conditions.

Just what kind of duel are you talking about? Pistols at 20 paces? Knives? Broomsticks?
And no the HSU 15" won't demolish any SVS sub under the PB16 because its physically incapable of doing so.

probably need pb3000 or higher to compete .
Any of them should beat the pb1000 even the 12” model. https://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-2mk5.html
Pb16 is $2500 tho , pb1000 pro is definitely a Good value sub regardless what you choose .

I'm about to place an order on a Rythmik LV12F to be put into the basement with my Rythmik LV12R.

I actually really wanted a Rythmik when my sub died, but the F15HP was out of stock for a few months. Of the ones listed, I'd probably choose the Rythmik. Always been a fan of their stuff and they have great customer support.

Brand new amp and dual tune likely increased the cost.
Yeah it does look a lot better, tho I’d expect for around $1000 , hsu is better value . Heck of a 12” sub tho .!! Not better then two 12” hsu beats one probably.
