Sound "gaps" intermittently

Hello.

I have a PC with an EVGA NU Audio Card and two audio pro ADDON C10 speakers, with RCA connected cables.
The problem I have is when playing music to the speakers the sound "gaps" intermittently when using the PC for other tasks.
However, if the PC is left alone doing no other tasks for me whilst playing the music - no gaps!
What's going on here and how can I overcome this issue please?
Thanks,

Tim

Hi,

Playing back from digital media on a spinning hard disc? Shared with the OS? One drive basically with everything on it? I assume you have the latest drivers installed?

If you just bought this stuff, I would suggest you return it. All of it. Unless music is the 2nd purpose for this setup.

Unfortunately there's no way to know why you have an interruption on your system. With a PC there's just so many variables that are playing into this, from software to hardware, your OS to the playback software you're using, how your system bus behaves, what chipset it is, memory handling, hard disc vs solid state, power requirements, etc. Audio in a PC on a card like this is just a mess of possibilities.

You'd be better off completely off-loading the audio from the system via a digital pathway like HDMI or USB to an external DAC or receiver.

Very best,

"You'd be better off completely off-loading the audio from the system via a digital pathway like HDMI or USB to an external DAC or receiver": How would this work? Signal from the sound card to an amplifier then to the speakers? How would this eliminate the problem I am having?
Thanks.

This would involve eliminating that sound card and most of the PC from this, other than USB.

You're using Adobe, so my best guess is that it's a memory handling issue of the software.

Use another playback software, like Foobar or something and see if it persists.

Process of elimination. What have you tried?

Tried Foobar - no difference.
Will try Process Lasso - Windows process automation and optimization software - to see if I can tweak things.
Thanks for your advice
