So I am initially in the planning stage of a smaller space home theater. I had these plans to go with a big Klipsch RP setup, with 2 SVS subs, but really I'm just not sure the space warrants the size I wanted to go. The room is about 11x17. Just an extra room in the basement.
I have decided on B&W 603 Anniversary Edition for L/R. HTM6 for center, and the 607 Anniversary edition for the surround. I got the opportunity to listen to these, and I really, really liked them. I'm in Alaska, so listening options are limited. I am planning on putting in ceiling speakers, but that's for a later date, because, well, I don't know what's in the ceiling yet. Will come after the renovations at the house are finished and I can get in there myself.
I bought 2 SVS PB 1000 Pros, but i'm afraid its just flat overkill for the room. I had the guy I bought them from come to the house recently, and he thought 1 would be plenty... Hmm, but I want 2 subs, audio dude. Lol.
I was thinking about 2 of the smaller Def Tech subs, or perhaps a B&W sub setup. It's less about volume and pressure for me, more about balance. I don't think 2 subs will have much issue in a room of that size. I would like HSU, but they are not an option due to shipping costs. Locallly, SVS, Def Tech, are available. Crutchfield is a reasonable option too, as they will put it on a truck in Seattle for me.
Any thoughts?
