Been a Marantz fan for along time. Presently have an sr7012 in family room that i will be moving to another room so have to replace the sr7012. I have asked at several places for opinions but never here. Looking at either the Marantz sr8015 or the Anthem mrx1140. I did read several issues involving anthem but my understanding may be user error.Dont know for a fact. Wondering if anyone has made the change from marantz to anthem and opinions appreciated. i also dont understand the anthem setup as i understand a computer is needed but wonder if via wifi or has to be laptop or hardwired. (heard several things)not sure. thanks

I have owned both Anthem and Marantz. Currently using Marantz. There are not a lot of reviews on the 1140, but I am fairly confident that the 8015 and the 1140 would sound very comparable. The issues you are going to run into with Anthem are a few things.

1. Anthem will not support HDMI 2.1 out of the box, you must upgrade down the road for $$
2. The both use the same AK4458VN DAC
3. If you are going to upgrade a to 15.2 Speaker config (god bless you :)) the Anthem supports it
4. I have not used ARC room correction on the Anthem since back in the AVM50 days, but it did do the job well
5. As a Paradigm/former Anthem owner (Same Company) I rate their customer service significantly better than Marantz based on my personal experience
6. ARC room correction on the Anthem was buggy at launch and delayed.

That brief analysis, there is still many more things to consider. If I had to make a decision today I would go with the Marantz. I am not going to buy an 1140 only to pay $500+ to upgrade the HDMI down the road. The Marantz is already the less expensive unit. You may also want to consider the Denon 8500. Otherwise if you are set on Anthem I would wait until the fully upgrade the HDMI 8K 2.3 before you buy.

have no problem with audssey so i'm assuming no. Looking more into the SQ i suppose.
I think the Marantz 8015, Anthem, Denon 8500, and Yamaha RX-A3080 will all sound equally superb if you don’t care about room correction - don’t use RC.

I think the Marantz, Denon, and Anthem will be equal in the Room Correction department.

I think the Yamaha may have the edge in the reliability, HDMI compatibility, WiFi Remote and Music Streaming department. It produces the least heat.

The Sony STRZ5000ES might also be up there with reliability. It has a 5YR warranty. Basically barebones on Room Correction and it has Graphic EQ (or maybe no EQ at all). Sony AVR might work better with Sony TV and Sony PS?

Both the Yamaha and Anthem have the better Parametric EQ, while Marantz/Denon have the Graphic EQ.

Thanks to all. Being a marantz guy for so long I think I'll stay put and opt for the sr8015.. just feel it's a safer choice and I'm used to them..

FWIW Denon menus/use are very similar to Marantz.....they share a lot of things being sister companies.
