Apple Air Play from Iphone to DENON 6700 and ATV4K, LG OLED

So what's the setup to get the iPhone to mirror/air play content directly to the LG OLED TV hooked up to the Denon 6700?

When I try to stream something from my phone, the denon switches to TV AUDIO and nothing happens

Is there a certain setup on the APPLE TV or DENON in order to get Airplay and be able to use the Denon controls for volume, etc?

Not an apple guy but why are you wanting the phone to play thru the tv instead of streaming directly to the avr? Start on page 137 of your avr manual for airplay details.....

Because I was hoping to utilize the Apple tv, LG and Denon like I would while streaming Netflix, etc

Only difference is I want to play content from my iphone on the fly to the system while Apple TV is on

Ah, was thinking music only. I would imagine the ATV should be able to accept the stream as well....aren't airplay instructions in the tv and ATV manuals as well?

I checked the APPLE TV settings and Airplay is set to on but the Denon does something weird - goes to TV Audio input and doesn't play

Sounds like HDMI-CEC/ARC stuff.....my tv connected that way always wanted to steer input to the "tv" input on the avr...even when it wasn't the source I wanted. Now I just use a Harmony remote using macros to turn stuff on/off and select appropriate inputs.....

From the Denon support web site for the 6700:

"The AirPlay compatibility software in the AVR is for audio only and will not support video. For video support, you can use an Apple TV to stream videos or movies."

It sounds like you are trying to stream via AirPlay directly to the Denon but what you should actually be doing is streaming AirPlay to the Apple TV 4K.

Yes I use a Harmony elite remote - its been acting up as well - not setting the right inputs and such

I will need to do a deeper dive on this.

Holy Cow - I finally got around to using the HEOS app and some iPhone tunes - wow!

The Pinnacles really shine in 2 channel mode - you really hear every single note to its fullest.

I am swapping them for the Ultra Towers though next week as I feel the extra $200 in cost is minimal and since I have all ultras around it would make more sense to match them.

I only wish with the HEOS & Denon that I can watch the album cover art on the LG TV or the lyrics like I can with APPLE TV Music app.

Also weird thing as some songs cant be played from Iphone as it says its copyright and/or not downloaded? (but they are on the Iphone)

Anyway - wanted to share that this is THE way to hear music on these systems - its amazing really
