Will a WiFi adaptor with USB connection work on the AV7005. This model has a LAN connection only.

Some of the avrs from that time had such adaptors, does the manual mention that as an accessory/option? I have an Onkyo from that time that uses a specific Onkyo usb adaptor for wifi, and believe I saw reports that some generic adaptors were used successfully, too on those same Onkyo models.

You are right that some products had their own internet adapters specific to the brand. It appears the AV7005 required a firmware upgrade for wireless access. I have been unable to see firmware connectivity. When I use an ethernet connection (by using a 100 ft. ethernet wire) I can access internet radio etc. but although firmware and upgrade is "on" I see nothing! This is why I am looking into WiFi wireless. But I have Roku, Google, and Amazon Fire to access streaming of just about anything it seems the AV7005 is the odd piece in my Home Theater set-up. I originally paid about 1600 dollars in 2010 to replace it with Marrantz or Anthem today would be in the 3000 dollar range. I suppose that is my actual dilemma. Thanks for your reply!!!

That same old Onkyo I stopped using for wifi as I have devices connected that are easily used to stream thru (and the onboard apps are largely useless now due lack of updates from those services). Doubt that D&M still maintains firmware updates for such old gear (and the company has gone thru I think two owners since?). What do you want to stream directly to the avr vs your devices?

I can stream more than I could ever watch. I think that my problem is my AV7005 is "out of date" and I cannot change anything without upgrading to a newer model. HDMI changes and so many other things.

I mean why do you want to stream to the Marantz rather than just do it thru your other devices? A particular service you can't do thru the other devices?

No I wanted to connect to Marrantz for firmware updates or upgrades via the internet.

I need to buy a new pre/pro. They only last so long! Keeping it for ten years was overlong too many upgrades in sound and connectivity. You know its old if it does not have wireless WiFi
