Speaker compatibility.

Hello all, I am new to this well known forum with very limited (better say No) knowledge of audio technology. I have just bought a pair of Edifier R1280T speaker and want to know if it's ok to connect them with Creative Play 3 USB DAC? This speakers have SNR Value of ≥ 85dBA, input sensitivity of 750mV and impedance rating of 6Ω (Bass unit) 4Ω (tweeter) whereas, DAC's SNR is ~93dB, Ohm rating says upto 300 ohm.

That Creative Play DAC contains an earphone amplifier, not an amplifier for driving speakers. It's a product that is used with computers.

I agree, but, am using those speakers with computer.

So the question has nothing to do with your DAC. Have you tried to connect the speakers to your computer sound card amplifier? Do they work with your computer? If they operate with your computer, where is the problem?

It should be fine to connect the dac to your active speakers.

Yes, I have. But, onboard sound card does not sound up to the mark. It has some kind of constant noise, may be due to some kind of electrical interference. That's why I am planning to buy the aforementioned USB DAC to enjoy clear music. But, it's (DAC) SNR and Ohm ratings are different than the said speaker. Therefore, I am curious to know if the DAC is capable to drive those speakers or not.

SNR(SignalNoiseRatio)is a number that shows the noise floor of the item. Doesnt matter that they are different.
Impedance on the DAC output has nothing to do with the speakers woofer impedance. The woofers impedance characteristics only matter to the internal amplifier in the speaker.
