I wanted to get some vinyl for a friend of mine, where do you guys get vinyl? Quality. I haven’t purchased an album in 25 years! Thanks.

My favorite (pre/post covid) is to go dig through crates at the local independent record shops! But, if you are not near a large city, that likely isn't an option.

Any chance you have a half price books? They usually have some decent records new or used.

Ebay can be good, but do your homework on the vendor, just like any other ebay purchase.

Discogs.com perhaps for collectable type stuff, maybe something new from Jack White's Third Man Re:cords perhaps? I haven't bought vinyl in 25 years either, tho :)

Goodwill Thrift stores of course $1-2 each. I've found minty records there and some a bit scratched, but decent. I'd try your 5-10 of their stores in your area. Have fun!

If you are looking for a special gift, https://www.musicdirect.com/ is an excellent resource! They have many high quality selections, and sometimes you can catch decent sales. In particular, if you look at anything from Analogue Productions, they have been making very high quality reprints, often going back to the original master tape source.

Thrift stores and used book/magazine stores are surprisingly pretty good resources for used records. I used to go to Bookman's out here every month looking for video games and walk through magazines. They always have a pile of records. I never dug through them but I'm sure they something good every once in a while.
