If a speaker wire was to short, is there a tripping circuit in most AV receivers to kill the power? In my case, Denon AV 1912.

Yes, most AV receivers have protection if a speaker wire shorts, but I wouldn't count on it working 100% and always be careful of stray strands when hooking your speakers up.

Education continued: Though I have no intention of adding an inline speaker wire fuse (I don't THINK), I'm curious if anyone does that to reduce or eliminate fire and/or equipment damage risk? If so, what inline fuse do people typically purchase and does it degrade SQ?

So I'm on the right page, you do mean your speaker cables, right? I'm not sure if adding a fuse would degrade the signal or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if some folks would say it does... seems kinda redundant to me. As long as you're careful and your cords aren't getting mangled all the time I wouldn't worry about it.

Is there a particular reason you want to add more protection? You have pets chewing on your cables or something? Does it flood a lot where you live? :p

I'm not really worried. Mild curiosity. My system is in a hotrod shop.
