Looking to upgrade speakers

Hello,

I recently purchased a Denon 3700 and am looking to upgrade my speakers (currently have the Pioneer Andrew Jones speaker set). I've been eyeballing the Klipsch RP-280/RP-450c bundle on Amazon and will probably look to pick up the RP-160s for surrounds. My room is pretty small (~10x20) and I only use it for movie watching. Really wanting to be able to get reference levels with no clipping/distortion. My question is: is this the best upgrade for the money/what I'm trying to accomplish? My budget is $1500. Very open to suggestions to possible alternatives.

how are the acoustics of your room ?
I haven't been able to take any measurements (still consider myself somewhat of a noob but plan to get there eventually) but it's a basement with 8' ceilings with carpet & drywall. Near perfect rectangle save for the stairwell entry

Ok and to further on Maz's comment 'worthy speakers' , for movie content only it would be L/R/C and sub(s). Use what's best from your existing set up for your surrounds. Perhaps even stretching your budget or being a little more patient and save more $$ for improved sub(s)

Got it, thanks for the responses! So the recommendation would be to go with the Prime Towers/Center over the Klipsch & continue with the Andrew jones bookshelves as my surrounds? Just out of curiosity, what gives the edge to the Prime's over the Klipsch? I'm a novice, so don't want this to come off the wrong way, but the Klipsch are more efficient so would be easier to get to reference levels if I understand correctly. The Prime towers have roughly the same efficiency as my current speakers. I understand there's a lot more that goes into speaker quality, so just trying to learn what I should be looking for. Thanks!

Speakers, without question are a subjective purchase, so with that being said while I have not listened to the Prime towers suggested by Maz I have to the Klipsch and they fatigued the hell out of me. Granted there could have been other factors at play and I was listening to music, to which I was familiar, they were not my cup-o-tea. As always YMMV !

Speaker design, drivers, crossover, cabinet all contribute to Sound Quality. If all your interested in is Reference Levels of Volume. Then the Klipsch will be fine. In fact just get a pair of Cervin Vega if that's all that matters.

I like the Klipsch towers but am not a fan of the center speakers. I think a better choice in that budget would be some Monoprice Monolith THX speakers: a 365C center and some 365T fronts. That center will be miles ahead of the Klipsch center, and since the center is the most important speaker in the system, that makes the Monolith THX stuff an easy pick over the Klipsch stuff, at least for me. Keep in mind that the Monolith THX speakers are intended to be used with a subwoofer.

Thanks for the suggestions! The center is my biggest concern as well coming from the Pioneer C-22. I hadn't read about the Klipsch center being lacking so I appreciate the insight. Will look into the Monoprice speakers

Depends what your going for the thx speakers are 4 ohm so just use a premium amplifier.
They are 3 way klipch are 2 way so I’d imagine better midrange ? Other then that I’m not sure how different they are other then sound acoustics.
I’ve never heard Monoprice or svs speakers , I have klipch icon which were pretty decent but loud .
Not hard to get to ear bleeding levels ...
higher end klipch are really expensive too .
I wonder if these still go half off once a year
35hz isn’t very low bass for duel 8s tho is it ??
Big towers but not sure big sound ? Are higher end models even worth it with better brands out there ??
Omg this one is like 2k ea https://www.klipsch.com/products/rf-7-iii-floorstanding-speaker#product-specs
