Hi Folks
Im a long time lurker who needs some advice, lol.
I just purchased a new Sony 900h ,and my MRX300 is a little lacking on connectivity to say the least, but for budget reasons I have a couple of A/V receivers in mind.
I have an older 5.1 speaker setup consisting of Energy RC50,RCLCR,and RC10s(and an older HSU downfiring sub)
I have always wanted to give the RC50s some more power,so I was considering Marantz NR1711,along with an external amp for the fronts.
The other alternative would be a DENON AVR-x2700h or AVR-3700h at the stretch of my budget(with no amps added)
Would the NR1711 amp combo be sufficient in your opinion?
Thanks

I would easily recommend the Yamaha RX-A1080 if you don"t need 8k or RX-A2080 ifyou want 9.2.

The 1711's own amp section is fairly weak but does have preouts for subs and the left right speakers. So depending what amp, you have plenty of flexibility to add more power....

Ok ,so hypothetically ,I could add a couple of Crown mono blocks, and power the center and surrounds with the internal amps of the NR1711.(I guess NR1711 limits me to two Atmos height speakers)

A Crown XLS amp would likely do just fine and cost less.....does Crown even make a monobloc amp? I'd think more about an avr with a full set of preouts myself for more flexibility, and perhaps you'd like one with more channel processing capabilities, too.....

Lol,I meant Outlaw not Crown.
Although I was thinking of a Crown pro amp as well.
You are correct,I should get a full set of preouts, and be capable of 5.2.4
Thanks
