We just purchased our first surround sound system it’s a Theory Connect TC-HD speaker system 5.1.... on the back it has a hdmi that says TV... then it has Audio inputs with a bunch of red and white spots... and speaker outputs with a bunch of red and white spots... we hooked up the speakers to the audio outputs... then have AV cords in the audio inputs going to a digital decoder... then have an optical digital cord from that to the tv... doesn’t work... so tried the hdmi to the arc input in the tv... that does work either... tried hooking it to the Xbox one that didn’t work with either hdmi or optical digital cord... noticed our decoder has a broken input button so I’m sending it back to amazon for a replacement... are we doing it wrong? Shouldn’t the hdmi just work? Been at this for days don’t know what to do.... thanks for any help!

I highly doubt that system ever works. Looks pretty much like "white van" gear. It seems very expensive junk, and has the definite look about it of the worst junk, if not outright fraud. I would drop that like a hot potato while you have the chance. For one think, HDMI does not just work, it has to be set up and assigned input by input. The system looks like a knock off of Bose.

Yep my first thought on seeing the pic/price was white van as well. Lack of downloadable manual isn't a good sign either, let alone any real specs.....not sure how to help without a manual.

This whole system screams scam to me. That seems your take as well. The claim of 2,200 wats of power pretty much nails it as a scam. That would have to be exaggerated about a hundred fold. If you put any more than a fraction of that power into those small cubes, they would go up in smoke!

@Crawford, so umm you got this setup from Amazon? What research did you do if any? I gotta say no pun intended but you would be better off dumping that and getting entry a level AVR.

No I didn’t get it from Amazon... I got the decoder from amazon... we bought the system sealed in box brand new from my father in law... y’all are kinda rude but whatever and FYI it does work on Bluetooth but my tv doesn’t do Bluetooth... and we wanted a better connection so it has better sound... it’s sounds amazing using our phones shakes the whole house.... but whatever it’s junk right?

How do you do Crawford? Sorry for your frustration but everyone is flying blind here without a manual to reference or pics of the back of your devices. If you can post pics of your connections and include the model number of your tv, it would help greatly.

Crawford, no one is trying to be rude. They are just being honest. From being in this hobby with years of experience, most have seen it all. And this just screams of a scam. What's worse is it came from your father in-law.
Looking at their website just confirms to most it being one of those white van scams. Hell the website isn't even a secure website. Only contact info is an email, which i would bet would get you no response. For distributors it just says " all across America". No detailed info on the product. Nothing what so ever about the company.

Talk with your father in-law about where he got it from, i think you may find our suspicions to be confirmed.
But no one has been rude yet. Just brutally honest.

Okay, I did some research on this company, seems to be one of those " Bass module" setups. $3.900 wow! Maybe give them a call or shoot their CS department a email. I've seen these in BestBuy, Walmart and online. I've never researched those all in one Bass modules I seen those in Walmart stopped and looked them over but never really had an Interest. You could return yours get a full refund if possible, you can pick a nice 5.1 setup for 4 grand. Mid level AVR for around 1k, than 5 speakers plus a nice sub with the other 3k.

Yes it is a sub with the receiver all in one! After looking online I’m thinking it may have been a scam... I did email the company.... it’s so strange our phones will Bluetooth to it perfectly and sounds really good! But I just want to hook it up to the tv so we can watch movies with the audio.... I’m going to call Best Buy and see if we can get the geek squad to hook it up for us....

If you can post pics, just about anybody around here can tell you what you are working with and how to connect it up if it works at all.

Hopefully you didn't pay very much, that price they show is way beyond the value of such gear. It may have some functionality, even with the hdmi, but you'll have to walk us through any setup menus and pics of available connections, etc. We usually do this thru an online manual.

If that is being sold in big box stores then someone needs to be enforcing the truth in advertising laws. Those power ratings are obviously absurd and light years away from anything remotely possible or realistic. If Best Buy are selling that sort of rubbish, they will ruin their reputation. I do have some contacts up the chain in Best Buy, and I will start rattling their cage. That sort of thing has no business being in Best Buy, in the store or online.

Still seems more like something from the parking lot of even the big box stores.....but there are likely other Bose wanna-be's (and while am not a fan of such high priced Bose systems, they at least will work well).

Crawford, please dont even waste your time trying to get it hooked up. That place is a scam. It's address is a post office for christ sakes. There are only a few websites even discussing these speakers and those web sites are also a scam.

I would almost bet, Best buy is Not selling these (could be wrong). I would just try and get your money back from the father in-law.

EDIT- Just got off the phone from Best Buy with the manager. They have never heard of or carried this product in their stores.
