Hello! I have the following system:

1x Sony XBR-77A9G 77 OLED 4K TV
Outlaw Model 976 Processor
Model 7000x Amplifier
1x PREMIER 600C (one front-center speaker)
2x PREMIER 800F (two front side tower-speakers)
4x PREMIER 200B (one for each side and one for each rear corner)
2x Monolith 15in THX Ultra Certified 1000-Watt Subwoofers

I read the manuals and went through the system setup in the Outlaw Model 976 Processor menu but I'm hoping I simply missed something. I've gone back half a dozen times to experiment with different settings to try and solve my issue without success. So I'm here hoping the audio experts can provide some guidance.

The problem is I get no sound out of my subwoofers when listening to music from streaming sources, such as Youtube Music, Amazon Music, and iHeart Radio. I got amazing bass when I watched a 4K UHD movie using my 4K UHD DVD player the other night, but most of my entertainment are from streaming sources. I went to the following pages:

...and I tried switching all the speakers to "small" and verifying the crossovers were set to 80Hz. I tried switching my subwoofer settings around as well without any progress. The bass seems to come out of my two tower speakers no matter what settings I choose.

I should note one confusing thing to me is that I don't see any options to change the sound mode in the AV processor. I only have source options, like Direct, Media, TV, Server, Aux, etc. I'm surprised that I don't see any dolby digital plus options in the AV processor menu options or on any of the remote or front panel buttons. The TV sound setting is set to Dolby Digital.

The subwoofers were the most expensive speakers in my system so I'm eager to fix my system setup so I can actually hear them! Please provide guidance.

Thank you for your help =D

See this on page 35 of the manual so it should work in 2ch/stereo mode and seems you've enabled sub in setup, but I didn't dig too deep. Answer's most likely in there somewhere....

"To switch the Model 976 to stereo mode:1.2.Press the STEREO button on the remote control.Any surround sound mode currently in use will be deactivated, and the front panel dis-play will read either STEREO or STEREO+SW (stereo plus subwoofer), depending on your speaker confi guration settings.

I couldn't get it to work, so I thought maybe I screwed something up when I was experimenting with the settings in in the AV processor setup options, so I tried to start over from scratch and redid the automatic setup with the mic.

I was able to get it so I feel a tiny bit of vibration from the giant subs during a high bass scene in the UHD movie, but it's no where near as amazing it was before. I'll try to reset factory settings and restart again...

This shouldn't be so difficult...

Could be your expectations to an extent...subs really shouldn't be prominent with most content.

I finally managed to get the subwoofers dialed in where I wanted them. You are correct to some degree, but I did expect these giant, massively expensive subwoofers to put out some serious power. I recall being in a relative's vehicle with his elaborate audio system setup as a kid and I'll never forget how the bass literally caused so much vibration, it was like sitting in a massage chair and when you got up out of the vehicle after being in it for a while, your whole body would continue to humm for several minutes.

I want to literally feel the bass in my living room as I did back then. It isn't quite as profound since my living room is a heck of a lot larger than his little 2-door sports car, but at least I can feel the bass now.

Restoring factory settings and simply turning up the level setting from the 0 dB THX preset to +6dB, in addition to dialing up the tone Bass level to +8 seemed to do the trick. I didn't dare to crank it up too high on the level adjustment because I don't want to blow these new subwoofers. +6dB is around 3 o'clock, so only a little more than half way.

The next challenge will be figuring out how to optimize my surround sound speakers. There are Youtube surround sound test videos and such, but Youtube outputs 2.1 I think, so I'm not sure how I can test it. I tried the virtual haircut thing but that only works with headphones, not with a 7.2 surround sound speaker setup. Any suggestions? It would be great if there were a surround sound program I could use that would play a sound to simulate a motorcycle driving slowly in circles around me or of a person talking to me while slowly walking around me... saying helpful stuff like, "Now I'm directly behind you..." or "now I'm directly to your left..."

Here's another dumb question: are there any instructional videos on how to install this 75 Ohm FM antenna with push-on type connector? The processor manual doesn't provide instructions on it and my youtube searches are all on coaxial cables. I feel like I'm missing a part. Does the AV processor not come with everything needed to connect the FM antenna?

JMO those two subwoofers should pressurize a fairly large room. If your not getting that "Holy Shiit" experience. Something's is wrong

Scenes like this.

I don't know. Maybe I should turn the level up higher?

Can't help you with the video thing, don't find them very useful for most audio subjects. For the antenna once you push on the push-on connector does it not stay in place or what's the issue? You tube is only 2.0.

Sounds like from the car experience you just like your bass massively louder than the rest of the spectrum, as some car sub fiends like to do. You might look into tactile transducers (aka bass shakers) for your seating to help out.

Does the 976 have a setup routine using a mic? That will do a fine job of setting up your surrounds, or you could also use an spl meter with test tones. Plenty of test discs to help setup. Quite a few dvd/blurays have them as an extra feature, too. There might be something on an app with multich sound enabled (like Netflix....they used to have a test thing....think it had an odd title like the frame rate 23.976 or whatever that is, or at least they used to.

Build one of these.
It seems like you’re looking to replicate a super high spl car audio experience. Not sure about your room, but despite how great modern HT subs are, it’s hard to overcome air volume. Something cars have none of.
