Need some help turning on 2 subs, thanks.

Hello again everyone,
I run an ONKYO TX-RZ820 AV receiver. The unit has only 1 (one) 12V trigger out, but I want to power up 2 subs when I turn the unit on. The ONKYO has 2 RCA outs for an audio signal for 2 subs, but only 1 12V trigger out. Audio signal is not an issue. 12V trigger out is. Any suggestions on how I can send 2 12V trigger out signals from one output? I await your replies and suggestions. Kindest Regards.

Pretty sure you can use a splitter. I think those are 3.5mm(minijack) connections. So maybe a headphone splitter.
Are you having trouble with the auto on function? I don’t think triggers are usually necessary.

Thanks for the reply. I do not have a problem with the AUTO on. It gets an audio signal, no problem. I have the subs turned OFF when I do not listen to my AV receiver. When I turn the AV receiver on, thats when I turn the subs on. The issue is the sub POWER on. I do not want to keep getting up to turn ON the sub from its ON OFF power switch. I also do not wish to leave the subs on all the time.
Besides the EMOTIVA trigger expansion module, I do not see a solution. Do you have a link for that 12V trigger Y splitter? I could find one on Amazon.

I can look around. I was just taking a shot at that. Haven’t seen too many concerned with leaving subs in standby, but can respect that.

Splitters can work but be sure to check the specs of both the sender and receiver to make sure the trigger out can handle the loading of two subs.

Just checking, so no offense if you fully get this, but you understand that most subwoofers have a true automatic power on/off feature integrated into them? That is, when there is no audio signal (voltage), then subwoofer, after 10 or so minutes, will completely shut down. You don't need to manually go over and turn it on/off when you use the system. Just leave them in 'AUTO' mode for power, and they will power up when you turn on your AV receiver and a few minutes after you power off your AV receiver, the subwoofer will power down. Just the same as if you were using a 12v trigger.

Maybe you already understand how that works with subwoofers, but it kind of sounds like you may not. Typically the 12v trigger from a receiver is used to trigger amplifiers which are in the equipment rack, not subwoofers in the room. But, it would help to know what the make/model is of your subwoofers to ensure they have proper automatic on/off control from the LFE input.

I use smart power strips so that when my avrs turn on so do my sub amps. If only two subs I like the idea of trying to split the trigger signal first.

Pretty sure the AVR’s 3.5 mm 12v plug is the mono variety (TS) not stereo (TRS).

I wondered about that. Even still, I’m pretty sure he could get that at a music store. I know the ones in our area have millions of options.

There are plenty(ish) of 3.5mm (1/8") mono splitters available. They are just hard to find in a world full of stereo splitters.

Still, not sure why people aren't using the integrated automatic power off feature already built into their subwoofer and glossing over this integrated feature.

I’d be curious to know what the sub in question is. I’ve never heard of a sub with a 12v trigger.

I did ask a in a roundabout way above, but OP didn’t really say. Just that he leaves them off. My guess at that point was to save all the energy that one can, even though in standby it’s basically nothing.
Oh, and these...
