Outlaw 2220...Anyone own one?

With the monoblocks currently on sale, I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on three of these for my LCR but I cannot find ANY information in any forum from people who own them. Lost of good things are said about the 2200 but these new ones are a slightly different design and are made in China as opposed to Taiwan so it begs the question...are they as good as the older models?

Really dying for some feedback from owners of these.

Thanks

If you are concerned, you should email them and ask for the differences between the two in terms of design and specs. I suspect there are very little changes, except the dimensions and weight (just slightly).

Someone did post a reply from Outlaw:

Outlaw 2220 Amp vs Monoprice Monolith | AVS Forum :

"Here is a reply from Outlaw audio in regards to the 2220 changes:

The input stage on the Model 2220 has been improved. It also has an input switch to help lower noise.

The front panel on the Model 2200 was much bulkier with more aluminum. The faceplate of the Model 2220 has been more streamlined and, while brushed aluminum, weighs significantly less.

The Model 2200 did not have a max power output of 600w, but it did have a max power consumption of 600w - as does the Model 2220. Both amplifiers are Class G."

I appreciate it but what I really looking for is feedback from actual owners, of which not a single one seems to exist on the internet.

Just what are you looking for? Besides....it's a relatively new release. Try searching just the 2200 model for more user comments, they're not all that different.....

I'd like to think so but the 2200 were what, 15 years in the making and all at the same factory in taiwan. New ones are slightly larger and are made in China so at least something has changed. I'd just really love to hear from an owner or two. They are a year old now so you would think one or two would come out of the woodwork eventually.

I've read all the 2200 reviews (most at least) but I'm just not much for being the guinea pig on new iterations of products.

Just gotta add that Outlaw, thus far, is staying in business, and they have none of those amps in b-stock. There is also no negative press that I’ve seen.
Considering the track record from the original Model 2000 to the 2200, I don’t see the concern. If I were in the market, I’d have no difficulty ordering these based on my current lot of 5 2200s.
Obviously, your mileage varies on this.
Have you tried asking over at that other site?

Performance wise or you think moving to China they went for a lower quality BOM? It's a basic power amp, pretty straight forward stuff, not sure what an owner or two would say to convince you it works.....

You are right, I couldn't find any user reviews either but that could be a good indicator too. People are less likely to post and praise a product than to complain what they consider a bad one. As mentioned, it hasn't been out that long so even if you get 100% good reviews from say 10 posters, it really won't mean a while lot, definitely not in terms of long term reliability.

For such kind of audio products, I would think the "made in China" thing is not a bad thing based on their track records, may be @M Code can say something about that. I have a couple made in China DACs that measured great, nice build quality and so far seem reliable. Political reasons aside, I think they are quite capable of making good audio products designed and build locally, let alone products designed in the US such as Outlaw's. If you don't want to be guinea pig, can't you just go for the M2200, I would think they are still available but not really sure.

The 2220 is built in the same factory in Nanjing, China that builds their 2160 stereo receiver and 976 controller/preamplifier. This factory @ 1 time built a large part of the NAD products, also they assemble the Azur and Cambridge audio products there. However now the factory builds mostly smaller size, high tech, digital wireless products. This factory is very capable and well-managed as they are totally owned by a Chinese couple, and have excellent connections within China for the crucial internal components. Which for the CE factories that have moved out of China to Vietnam, they are having a significant, backlog problem of getting enough Chinese produced internal components.

Just my $0.02... ;)

Bummer, Outlaw pulled the bundle sale price they had up on these making it a marginal sale. They must be struggling a bit. The price for 3 is close to their normal everyday bundle Price. Good news is I don’t need these but was tempted

HD, I swear to the almighty I am DONE with you commenting on my threads. I've already told you this in the past and yet I have still tried to remain polite with you. 95% of the comments you post on this forum are contrarian garbage. I have NO interest in whether you think the question that I ask is a good one. EVER. If you don't have a direct answer to a direct question then mind your own business.

Get a job, a life, and a girlfriend in that order and never respond to my threads every again. I have received several DMs from people on this site already who find you to be utterly insufferable but don't feel like confronting you about it. I trust you will get this message within minutes of my having sent it as you are posted in your Al Bundy pose at your computer...stained white t shirt covered in cheetos crumbs.
Do not EVER contact me or reply to any thread that I every create on this site. Your feedback is NEVER useful and your manner is unbecoming of a 12 year old.

No. I think it was an accident by whomever does their website. In the past, the sale price (discounted single item) has never been applied to bundles like that.
I asked when I bought mine in 2018. $300 ea, shipped, but no additional qty discount (I bought 5). At the time, they took care of shipping too. :)

They have not been on sale, not to such scale anyway since Covid started. If they pulled this sale so early, may be as M Code alluded to, supply shortage related, probably couldn't keep up with the influx of orders due to the lower prices.:D

Well this is one that they saved me from myself. I didn't need 3 but always wanted 3. And it was about $800 plus tax. But not now :( Oh well
