if biden reforms SS..and makes it possible for people like me to afford decent housing i don't give 1/2 of 2 craps about how it happens ,, my interests quite literally are on how after paying into SS for 30 years i end up having to wait in line for govt subsidized housing (2 year avg waiting list in my town), because what SS pays doesn't even get me in the ballpark of qualifying for an *average* 1 bedroom apt here.. so my "tax $$s " are already having sex with my anal cavity.. i'm sure you can understand that i'm not seeking liberal utopia , merely an existence that doesn't include being homeless...not laughing mao.. but being real..

I hope he does what he said he'd do with SS. I paid 44 years into the system. I feel you man, The system is really f..kup! There's so much fraud where Hundreds of millions are Getting Siphoned off from Medicare, Social Security, Unemployment insurance. My plan was to work till I could not anymore. I know of people who worked cash most of their lives, and now that they are old or what ever they get SSI cause they faked a injury and now they get 800 a month plus! plus free Medical from Medicaid! They get food stamps they eat better than you and I Probably get Section 8 housing. Now we got Joe wanting to forgive up to 10K on Student loans. Yeah that lil Program is costing taxpayers over 1 Trillion!! We gotta pay border patrol to try stop Thousands of illegals every year at our Borders. The ones that slip in, eat away at welfare, SSI Medical programs. All the millions going to other Countries that would love nothing more than to see a red flag flying over our heads. It's one big sh$t pie and all we can do is sit in the middle and suck on it!

yep , at least phx .. i can probably afford an apt in low rent tucson or an outlying area .. but the avg apt rents for about $1000 a month.. between the minimum wage increase and the housing shortage a guys got to make $2000 a month to qualify for a slightly sub standard 1 br ...so i rent a room from an old friend for more than i can afford, dudes got bad type 2 diabetes and already lost a leg to it.. as a matter of fact he'd be dead if i hadn't found him passed out in his room with a leg full of gangrene (requiring the amputation to save his life) .. so things ain't so rosy ..

Yeah when I retired staying in the SF Bay Area just was not a viable option, having mostly been a renter with roommates in the area (and had some killer arrangements for like 30 years so buying just didn't seem necessary let alone often just not affordable except at dips in the market). Why I retired where I did, low housing costs and much more nature to play in.

Curious, with that almost full time need for air conditioning, what are utility costs like?

yep .. i retired from blue collar work in my mid 40's with cerebral palsy, had it all my life , bad enough that i can't run at all, right leg is 3 inches shorter than my left , whole right side is useless basically.. i actually am on food stamps , but like you said there's a buncha fraud with that , some of which is "remedied" by moscow mitch defunding the whole program ..i'd just like to not be a statistic on the news.. you're right about college loans too , but i'd like to see the lenders have to eat that, won't happen though..i'd sure like to see political reform , but like i said , i'll settle for housed in non subsidized housing ,.... thanks for the support...

funny you should ask..nowadays my duties include running the entire house ,,cleaning up the entire place taking care of the animals , and paying the bills.. we have solar , so the actual bills are usually 2 digit up to very low 3 digit , but the payments on the solar panels is $200+ each month...our power company here is pretty corrupt , they are probably modeled after something in your area ,we were paying about $300 -$400 before solar , so we save a bit, it's a 2000 sq ft 1 level house..

thanks .. i saved some money , so i won't go homeless right away , but i'd just as soon spend that on something fun rather than the eternal emergency fund ..and it won't last long if the shitstorm hits , but i'm upright and housed , so basically things aren't total crap...

Well the founders of PG&E did go to my high school....but here where I am the utility is a co-op and reasonable.
