No, I don't think you are a Flat Earther. The line was from Krugman showing his frustration with some centrists and journalists/pundits trying to be fair by giving equal credence to both sides of an argument [edit: when one side is obviously not true].
I didn't think you were calling me a Flat-Earther, I was asking if you were referring to them.

No, Trell. You are just trolling. As far as I can tell you seldom actually discuss anything; you mostly try to bait other members you have philosophical disagreements with to get them to react to your insolent remarks. I know it amuses some people, but I think it's just pathetic and weak.
Now that is the pot calling the kettle black. Your arguments are more like postulating, and when someone calls you out you just attack with personal insults and bigotry, like in this thread.

Okay, let's circle back. A $20K/month benefit isn't possible now because the 2021 earnings cap will be $142,800 under the current law. Maximum benefits are proportional to the earnings cap. Biden wants to eliminate the cap, with a hole between the current legal earnings cap and $400,000. If Biden raises the cap such that it effectively has no limit, someone who earns, say $2M/yr in wages and bonuses will get a monthly benefit that is some multiple of the 2021 limit. I was just using $20K/mo as a possible example.

What I think Biden is really going to need to meet his objectives is a special Social Security surtax passed, not just an increase in the income cap. That way benefits would be based on the current system, but people with a taxable income over $400,000 would just pay more into the system, along with their employers.
And as I wrote, a high earner's employer will be on the hook for the extra unless they cap their contribution. Should an employer be required to pay 7.65% for the whole $2M? That's $156K added to their payroll cost and would cause many to close. Even if the person makes $400K, the difference is over $20K.

They would really need to look at the changes in terms of 'jobs lost if....' when they think about it.

Biden voted to tax Social Security benefits-

I think the gap WRT people making $400K is his income tax plan, not specifically for FICA.

Here's a re-cap of Biden's plan for Social Security:

His plan really is to just remove the cap on FICA withholding, but have a "donut hole" between the 2021 cap ($142K) and $400K per individual. If he does this that means some people could get some very impressive benefit checks.

Comments like this will seriously alter my opinion of your opinions.

Took me a good 15 minutes to think of something less objectionable than my initial thought.
I didn't mean to insult the Military or anyone associated with it but having known people who were involved in Vietnam, Korea, WWII and in the Middle East, what I have been told and what we want to hear are different. I hate what happens to our people before, during and after battle- they lose part of who they were before and sometimes, the ones who return physically 'intact' are anything but that, mentally/emotionally. I don't think it was widespread, but people change.

Thank you for your service.

They wouldn't get the big checks unless they contribute a large amount for many years, but it will give them a nice bump.

Wow, I'm so impressed with Ingraham and the like conceding. A (R) from TN said something along the lines of "We should appreciate all president Trump did for this country." AKA the stain he left on the American climate.
imo .. they are weak of mind in general, but think taking a position *they never move off of* (no mater how large a clusterfuck it creates) is "strength".. this latest realization (that people know it's an attempted coup) must have them a bit puzzled...

that proposal would literally lift me out of poverty into being able to afford adequate housing .. without the anchor around my neck of depending on govt subsidized housing (which is mostly crappy , a money grab by the subsidized contractor, with a long waiting list ) ... it's a blessing...

Irv's pretty good at staying on topic.

... and he doesn't whine.

Just sayin' ...
Push him hard enough to prove what he says and he'll squeal loudly in a very thin voice of the injustice of it all (also know as whining). Most of my replies to him was just a repeated simple question that he could answer yes or no: He refused every time and resorted to personal attacks and deflections, as usual.

You're still being stupid and argumentative. I answered your question. You asked if Buffett lied and I said he didn't in post #905.

Yet again resorting to personal insults instead of arguments, which is your modus operandi.

So here is your "answer" in full, your post #905. Instead of answering a simple yes/no if Warren Buffet lied you wrote:

"You are being stupid. That's not an insult, it's an observation. I did not say Buffett lied, but he didn't talk about his secretary's tax rate or her income, or sources of her income. We know the sources of Buffett's income do not include much in the way of salary, because he only earns $100K/yr from BRK. His secretary probably earns more in salary than he does. Wages above a certain level, which isn't all that impressive, are taxed at a higher rate than income from long-term capital gains, and dividends. Also, gains can be offset by losses from previous years, while wage income can only be offset by about $3K of losses per year. (@Trebdp83 can check my facts.) So the bottom line is that Buffett's secretary probably makes most of her annual income from wages, while Buffett doesn't, and she is unlikely to have the same rate of other credits and deductions as he does either.
"

I'm only insulting to you. I answered your question, which is that I did not say Buffett lied, and yet you go on and on and on. Do you have any idea how stupid you look with this vendetta?

No, Trell. I've put up with your personal trolling for about a year now (more?) and I'm just tired of it. You're trying to be a bully, but instead you're just coming off like an ignorant jackass. Go away.

Yet again personal attacks with no substance along with the usual deflections. Since you once again brought up me (a foreigner) should go away, might I remind you that you said you where done with this forum, after another poster (an American) called you out and you could not take it? But, here you are, whining

Oh please Mr (Ms?) Trell, stop picking on me! You're right, I just can't take it anymore! Sniff. I promise to change my ways, and become the democratic socialist victim you want me to be. I'm so sorry. Sniff.
