Denon vs Marantz

Most of us on these forums consider the difference to mostly just be marketing.

Marantz tries to appeal more to the high end crowd and tends to cost a bit more for a similar feature set.

I personally like the Marantz aesthetics better, but not enough for me to choose Marantz over Denon for a premium price.

Like slip said, except I personally don't like the porthole design on Marantz. They're pretty similar and share a lot of tech, tho Marantz tends to cost a bit more here in the US at least. Also Marantz' inclusion of hdam modules seems to increase the distortion somewhat per tests done at ASR compared to similar Denon models per analysis/comments from @PENG . FWIW per one of our industry insiders Denon outsells Marantz by 8 to 1. I have two Denons and am quite happy with them.....haven't had a Marantz since way back when with a 2270. I'd go with whatever feature set needed at the best price between the two....
