The Chord Company Speaker wires

Hi All!

I have recently gotten myself back into the home theatres. I have bought the following:
FL/FR: Definitive BP9060
C: CS9060
SR/SL: SR 9040
SBR/SBL: Mythos Gem (as there is limited space on back walls to get a SR speaker in place).
Currently this system will be powered using a Denon AVR-2807 ( and will later add the Denon AVR-X4700H as the new generation receivers have some issues with 8k processing chipsets).

I am researching for good speaker cables and am getting a very good deal on the Chord Company Clearway Speaker Cable (14 AWG). The dealer also has Odyssey (12 AWG) and Rumour (16 AWG) cables from the same brand. I was thinking of powering the C/FR/FL channels with the Odyssey Cable and using the Clearway Speaker Cable for the surrounds? Any ideas or thoughts from the community will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Define "good deal"???

Because if you are paying more than 50 cents per foot, you are over-paying.

The Clearway is approximately USD 1 per foot and Odyssey is about USD 5 per foot. My runs for surrounds are pretty long as compared to the fronts so thought, it would be better to use a 14 AWG as compared to the 16 AWG and its a bargain at this price when I compare prices to UK and US.

Chord sells some silly cables, I'd look elsewhere. I'd just buy a reel of appropriate gauge for all needs and cut it to needed lengths and terminate with my favorite connection. Where you are may have an effect on choices, tho.

Thanks for the responses! Given that, I live in Kuwait with limited options on speaker cables etc. I have to go with Chord as it is readily available and the rate doesn't seem so bad after what I saw online retailers pricing the cables at.

You are more making an excuse to overpay.

A good deal is what they can sucker you into spending. If you aren't willing to check your local hardware stores or you don't have any access to actual fair pricing, then you will get taken for whatever ride they can convince you to take.

At the end of the day, speaker wire is speaker wire is speaker wire, and by the pricing you gave, you are clearly being taken advantage of. Up to you if you want to allow that to happen to you.

Looks like you have hardware and home improvement stores....they should have suitable wire for speakers (lamp cord of sufficient gauge will work fine).

Heck, just scavenge some nice 14awg wire from the power cords from a vacuum cleaner or some other device with a good size copper power cables.

Done and done.
