Yamaha AVR problems

When you look at your wifi settings in the Yamaha, does it say "network" or "network direct" mode? It will not connect to the router in "network direct" mode.

Thx T83. I just checked and it was set at network direct. I changed it to wifi and now wifi works, so thx. I still have the sub issue.
Can someone please verify with your Yamaha AVR? Am I remembering wrong here? I have played hundreds of records and the sub always worked in 2 ch mode. If you can verify for me, that'd be great. Also check those classical and live club options. I never use them, but it'd be nice to know if they are supposed to have the sub icon live.

Direct mode is the only mode that will not allow Any kind of LFE/Sub.

If your AVR setting is for 5.1, 7.1, 5.1.2, etc., then the Sub should be working.

I always use either Straight or DTS NeuralX mode.

Yup. 2 channel audio should use sub in anything other than "PURE DIRECT" mode. However, sub will be active in "PURE DIRECT" mode for anything with .1 audio info.

When you brought the receiver back in from connecting to the router, did you perhaps connect the sub cable to the wrong pre out? Say, the Center pre out?

Ha. Nope. Dang! So this thing is bricked? I will say that my upgraded Forte II's sounded pretty good this morning without the sub. Thx for the verification T83.

'Bricked' means it doesn't do anything but sit there.

I had nothing wrong! On my app, I had turned off "extra bass" a couple days ago. I clicked that back on and now everything is back to normal. What a relief! I scrolled through all those DSP programs and the sub shows now on all of them.
As far as the no wifi.... I figured out how that happened too. Last week I discovered my center speaker became unplugged and when I plugged it back in, the receiver wouldn't show the center sp icon. I figured it knew it wasn't connected and it shut off that output. So I did a factory reset last week and that solved that, but I did not think about that it also killed my wifi, until now.
So it's all good, except I need to get the calibration mic out.

No, whatever it is at the time. The IP address will change if the AVR is disconnected for a seriously long time or if you change the router, but you can find the address if you download the Yamaha control app to your tablet and click on the gear on the display and then, use the Advanced Settings button.

Worst case, log into the router and look at the connected devices list. Once the AVR is found, it (the AVR) can be changed to static inside of the menu.

BTW- for anyone who likes other brands, Denon removed IP menu access years ago and they don't seem to have any plans to return it. That really sucks because having that really saves a lot of time, especially for dealers and integrators who have the luxury of using 'cookie cutter' configurations because the configuration could be saved to a thumb drive and used at the office or sent to the job site with the installers, who would then load it at the time of commissioning. Yamaha kept this and it really makes life better.
