Anthem 7x0 future?

I will have a set of Paradigm speakers in my main system in the living room. Currently I have a Yamaha RX-V663 receiver to power a 45c main, pair of 800f for the front speakers, Mini Monitors v5 for the sides, and the rears are adp-192 with a defiance X12 subwoofer. Is the Yamaha sufficient or should I upgrade to the new Anthem 700 series when it comes out. The 720 MSRP is $2500. I am still reluctant to spend. Should I stay put or update? Otherwise my equipment is matched now as everything else is 1080p.

The speakers are very easy and efficient to drive

I'd rather get a pair of these if you were worried about amplification

Going from 95 watts to 140 watts will get you an increase of 1.7 dB at max volume. That's not a significant increase in volume at all and I'd think not worth the expenditure solely for the reason of getting more power.

Why not just add a power amp if you want a more powerful amp? I wouldn't buy Anthem myself, find more value in Denon/Marantz and Yamaha....

What about the 4K/8K of the new receiver? I always try to plan for a set of future upgrades down the line. Primary but not the sole reason is the more powerful amp at this time. If there are alternatives for driving a 7.1 system please let me know.

I have not decided yet but I know from my broadcast friends (or is it fiends) that 4K will be coming for OTA broadcasting. At that point I will upgrade the other components.

Yes that is why I did not spring for the upgrade at this time. @mazersteven thinks my Yamaha is sufficient for my current speakers. I will be content to stay put with what I have at this time. I just needed to know that I am on the right path now. Staying put sounds good for me. I am still looking to see what does get released. The Marantz was also suggested for me but at this time all I am doing is kicking the tires right now.

What's OTA that's worth watching?

There are a few programs, mostly I am jaded by the crap on most of the channels now on cable.

I gave up OTA quite a while ago, mostly because I haven't lived in a place with decent reception for about 13 years now....but when I had DirecTV (gave up on them last year) I did get some broadcast channels, but didn't find much to watch on them. I do understand the audio/video quality of digital broadcast tv now is pretty good, tho....

Researching the antenna is a good start but also the higher you can get the antenna off the ground also has a major impact. I live in a decent area but I am limited as I don't own my own home. So height is limited by landlord, bummer! But I still get 30 channels.

Not an antenna issue, it's the location where I live. I've used tvfool.com in the past, I think there's an ABC affiliate in the nearest city that put up a repeater not too far away, before that it was nothing. Living in a valley in the mountains can be like that. Worth it, tho

I would personally avoid an AVR from any boutique brand.

Modern AVRs are extremely complex devices. Getting everything to work flawlessly requires significant engineering resources that the boutique brands just don't have. Then, the big brands have economies of scale that makes their AVRs cheaper to produce.

Today, to me, that means Denon, Marantz, Yamaha.

In the past I would have included Pio, but I'm skeptical of Pio now that they are part of Onkyo.
