Thoughts on subwoofers

So I am thinking what route I should take. First off, I am in the svs realm for subs. Debating if I should go with the 2000 pro or just hit the 3000, or open into suggestions on what people think and I can look into it.

My room is 1300 sq feet and has a door, so it is enclosed. I see that a room of this size should be comfortable with a 10" woofer. Just trying to see what I can do which would be best all around value. Really leaning towards the 2000 pro, as that should be overkill. I dont care about sweet spots or any of that crap. Usually no more than 2 people watching a movie at any given time.

Just want some decent earth shattering bass.

All my purchases will be on during black friday.

I only got two speakers right now, both of them are bookshelves and I mean they already provide sufficient bass even though it doesn't drop that low. So that's what got me thinking what should I do.

Well that is true I do not believe that there is Overkill (to a certain extent) w/ Subwoofers.
Also if it's in the budget why not
And you have a fairly decent size room I think the 3,000 would be better in your application

For an extra $300 you can get two 2000 pro. I think that will give you the earth shattering you’re looking for. More than the single 3000.

Yea the thing is I consider a few things. Mazer isn't wrong, but I do believe it depends on room size. two would be way too much. But yea your point is valid, on black friday I can get two pro's for less than that difference, if they drop 200 per.

I just got one thing, I got neighbors.. so that's going to create heavy bitching. Honestly, that's why I am debating between the 2000 or 3000. I got an isolator to chill out the vibrations, but the sub I have on my soundbar is a little unit, 8" and it basically rocks the room even on the isolator. So I can only imagine what the SVS will do.

If my neighbors weren't a consideration I would totally do the 3000.

Second, I think that two subs is to fill the entire room with bass regardless of your location, for maybe 4-6 people more or less. But I mean I never have more than 2 people, and 60% of the time it is just one person. So I do not know about that extra sub coming into play.

I watched a video a while back, and there was a sub that was really good. They placed a cup of water on top while it was on and the water did not move. It had some kind of cancellation to stop vibration and it was a suggestion for people who want to avoid the wall shaking drama. Cant remember which sub it was.

Ive never owned an svs sub but the reviews are great. Either way get 2 of whichever one you choose

One single 3000 will still be pretty damn good. If you’re worried about your neighbors and just need “some” bass, look at their 1000 series. It seems like you’re used to soundbar “bass” which isn’t really anything. Stepping up to a real subwoofer whether it’s the 1000, 2000 or the 3000, you’re going to notice a big difference from the soundbar “bass”. I would start with one 2000 pro and go from there.

I would get the 3000 no question. Then later decide if you want to add a second. If you have to save up, then it's probably worth it to wait.

Subwoofers are like HotRods. If you don't want to go fast don't step on the gas. But it's nice to know you have the Horsepower under the hood when you want it

Hmmmmm that's an interesting approach.

Like I said I am just trying to consider if the difference is worth it. I am going to see if I can find somewhere to demo them. Seems like bestbuy is the only authorized retailer of SVS products. So I need to dig up somewhere that has SVS for sale too to test them out

I got a 2000 (not pro). It's good but I was a bit disappointed in the output vs my unrealistic expectations. That said, room placement might have been a contributor. Either way you will get a nice one but I think we seldom investing in quality over time. But we do regret it when we don't

Yea that one they are definitely suggesting getting two, on most reviews ive seen.

I think the 2000 pro isn't that far off, but the thing is if you use the right settings on the app they say it is a lot closer to the 3000 which has the app too

133 dB of SPL at 30 Hz! You’ll have 800 watts RMS of continuous power and 2,500 watts of peak power on hand. This kind of deep bass and power is not something you are going to want to have in an apartment or condo unless you are totally isolated from your neighbors as you will likely get a stream of complaints if you crank this guy up to its full potential

Sounds like a dual-opposed design, several companies make them. I have one, and my next diy will be one. Seaton Submersive is one fairly famous one....
