Just Another Spark in NorCal

This weekend brought us another wave of Red Flag Weather and more Fire in Northern California.
Napa and Sonoma counties are being hit right now with the Glass, Boysen and Shady Fires... Now combined under the single heading of the Glass Fire (named for Glass Mountain in Napa Cty where that conflagration began).

In all, parts of Calistoga, St Helena and Santa Rosa are on fire right now, while many other parts of California and the greater West Coast continue to burn.

For me, my spot is still safe. *fingers crossed
But I have friends in the Evacuation Zones, as well as my job.

For all I know who are in the area, Safety and Protection to us all!

The air quality alone is bad, reaching over 400 in some places, and possibly reaching as high as 600 in the community of Bodega CA as the winds funneled smoke toward the ocean.

Stay safe, to anyone else out here!

@Russdawg1 , here in Sonoma Cty
@lovinthehd , in OR
@NorCalRP , a little further North

Fortunately we've had another bit of rain to help out and the skies are now gloriously clear here....and they reopened the forest earlier than the 30th, too. Although it's heating up and it got really windy again today, so.....

Yeah, sad part is, it’s not even October, so we should be expecting more no doubt.

I’m not evacuated as of now but we’ll see how the winds pan out.

I know a lot of friends in the Skyhawk area that are evacuated and some that their houses have perished :(

School is cancelled, both HS and SRJC.

Edit: I lied, only 1 house in skyhawk perished. I believe quite a few were charred or damaged. They’re prone to overreaction I guess. Who wouldn’t be.

If you have chickens, put them outside to smoke. Get that flavor in them before you cook them.

On a serious note, stay safe. That is such a mess out there and so dry. Makes our 55 degrees and forecast rain look pleasant.

No Chickens, but the Wild Turkeys should be pleasantly Smoked for TG Din! :p

Quick update:
Santa Rosa has downgraded several Warning and Evac Zones on the East side of town where the fire was most threatening.
Winds turned and started blowing Smoke to the North which helped my part of the County breathe a little easier, at least.
The Local Glass Fire Incident still threatens large areas of Eastern Sonoma County and the Napa Valley. Some of the reports I saw indicate perhaps that St Helena might be safer now (for the time being) but Calistoga and other communities to the North are still in peril.

Further North in CA, the Zogg Fire near Redding in Shasta County seems to be burning wildly out of control.

In all, another Red Flag Warning has been issued for today and and tomorrow, but this one will mostly bring heat and low humidity; winds are expected to be on the mild side compared to the 55+ MPH gusts that were clocked when these new fires broke out.

Continued Safety and Protection to all out here dealing with this!!!

Continued improvements in the East Santa Rosa area have a lot of the residents evacuated (due to the original Shady Fire) returning home. A majority of those zones have been downgraded to warnings, now.
Yesterday and today have been our first "clear days" for air quality, too.
In the larger area of the Glass Fire Incident, Calistoga and St Helena seem to be safe now, though I don't know the actual Evac status of those communities over on the Napa Side. Further North, however, Lake County has issued their first Evac Orders/Warnings due to the same fire continuing to spread to the North.

Continuing to wish for Safety and Protection to all during this epic Fire Season. CA alone has over 4,000,000 Acres burned so far this season, which could potentially stretch well beyond October and into Nov or Dec! :eek:

I think it's time to check people for their real intelligence. Anyone who thinks that it's a good idea to light campfires, fireworks during gender reveals and tossing lit matches and smoking cigs or cigars during the dry season needs to go away. Ditto for anyone who doesn't want to allow good forest management.
