Marantz sr5013 red light blinking

Hello,

I have a Marantz sr5013 which will turn off and blink red quickly. I have read the manual and tried so many things from researching. I have all speakers disconnected and only the xbox is playing music connected to the Marantz. The Marantz will turn off around -20db to 0db it is random. Now if I just have the Marantz on no speakers connected (which they are not the issue) and xbox off I can turn the volume up to +18db and no issues. Is this an amp failure that is occurring?

Klipsch klf20 speakers I have and a polk s35 for center channel, but even with all those speakers disconnected the avr will shutoff when playing music on the xbox. I have my klf20s powered by a 2502 crown amp connected by rca to the avr.

What about another source other than the xbox? Is the xbox connected via hdmi? Can you try another connection?

So I just have my xbox connected to the marantz through optical cable. Not a fan of having video pass through avr. I than have my tv connected to the avr through optical cable also. The marantz avr has turned off a couple times when the source audio was coming from cable tv instead of the xbox.

I also had the xbox connected to the avr via hdmi and the avr would go into protection mode also.

Doesn’t sound good man, maybe a pre-amp issue?
Maybe PENG will chime in to try and help.

I am interested in this topic... I had two Marantz SR5011 receivers that both had similar issues. The first one I bought used so I chalked it up to that. The second I purchased used as well but from a friend and I know it didn't have issues. About 6 months after purchasing it I started having the same issues. Eventually I moved it to the garage where it is rarely used but whenever I use it for extended periods its the same issue.

Yeah it's really weird. I still have a warranty but will need another avr while it's gone. Idk if they will be able to replicate cause it won't do it with everything disconnected. I figured if the amp is bad it would shut off no matter what.

There is a push button sequence to get the protection history displayed. I know the one for the 5012 but it may not be the same for the 5013. Would you like to try that, if it works, it should tell you what the issue is (broadly speaking).

Might try a Yamaha for your next AVR.

Do you have to pay shipping for the warranty repair?

I will have to pay shipping at first but will get my money back. I've been looking at old avr's like the denon 4802. I do not use the avr for anything video related just audio.

Have you investigated any further?
I came across this thread searching regarding this problem looking for a solution! I have 2, SR6004 that are doing the same thing, SO frustrating!!!

@UltraCube, Two AVR's doing the same thing? from the same Manufacturer plus OP has the same issue, 3 of them Wow! kinda reminds me of my Miserable days with Onkyo AVR's and H/K AVR's. Borthers of the same Mothers huh? Ouch! This audio thing is Expensive. Especially when you gotta start replacing gear that should last longer. I see all the old timers Bailed out on OP thread. OP hasn't been back in 5 months my best guess he using his crapped out AVR as a door stop.
Since your a new member of AH, lots of Audio Dealers hangout on AH, Postup a new Thread asking "Help Me Decide" which AVR should I choose to replace my two Marantz sr6004 that has the same issue as the Marantz sr5013. Have you looked at any other AVR's? Denons? Lots of those are still Available check Amazon, Crutchfield bunch of Refurbished units on Accessories4less.
