Hi, I am mostly a Heavy Metal listener and am wondering if this genre should effect how I evaluate audio gear, if any? Thanks

Assuming you like to listen at higher volume levels your choice in speakers and audio equipment will be dictated by the size and dimensions of your room how far you sit in relation to your front left and right speakers and again the volume at what you listen at.

A love of rock and metal doesn't mean you don't want accurate speakers! I mostly listen to rock, metal, and industrial and accuracy is still highly important to me.

Look for THX qualified speakers and a good ear doctor and you'll be fine.

I agree... knowing your preferred SPL at your listening position will be helpful in your search. If you want concert level, threshold of pain SPL, you will need speakers that can deliver. I think a good deal of mass market speakers will be hard pressed to deliver on that level. Especially if you go for longer spirited sessions. Tweeters can be notoriously fragile.

That said, there is no reason why you shouldn't, or couldn't, enjoy Metal on a Salk, for example.
