Just picked up this receiver at a garage sale and as I had thought it has trouble. Standby red light comes on but nothing else. Haven't hooked up any speakers or inputs but am sure more displays should be up. Thinking maybe the power source is shot. This guy had it in his garage gym running sound and tv input/output while he played with his dumb bells. AZ ain't the place to run stuff like this in a non- air conditioned environment. But I thought it might be salvageable.. Am I screwed?

Unless you're handy at analyzing/repairing probably not much you can do if just a standby light comes on only (assuming you have no functionality otherwise....did you hook it up to a display to see if that yielded anything more than the panel lcd did?).

Thanks. I will try to hook up to a display and see if anything else comes up.

You bought yourself a boat anchor to take to the recycling center. You will not fix this, I doubt. I suspect a power transistor is shorted that is sending the unit into protection. That and power supply issues are the most common causes.

It is at least 10 years old and not worth the cost of repair.
