Denon receiver x4500h Remote

I bought an open box Denon X4500h receiver Best Buy.I am trying to set up receiver on the tv but i think the remote they gave me is not the right remote for the receiver.It powers the remote but set and main buttons just just dont work.This receiver was at the Mangolia display and since the New Denon came decided to sell this.The remote model is rc-1240.I even went on replacementremote website and nothing comes up .When i search for this model nothing comes up.When i google the remote for Denon x4500h the designated remote is rc-1219.I wish anybody out there has the Denon x4500h to clarify this.Thanks in advance.

Seems the remote you got is for the successor, the 4700 as well as the 6700....maybe they swapped remotes at BB and now they have one of those with your remote....

Denon hasn't changed their codes in over a decade- what are you trying to do with it? If you didn't press the Main button at the top before trying to use the remote to access the menu, go back and read the manual to find out how this works.

Do you have a TV connected to the Denon 4500? Does the "Setup" button work on the remote? Once that opens you can set it up. I rarely use the Denon Remote as I typically use the iPad for EQ, setup and volume/source control.

Thanks for the feedback. I went back to Best Buy and the remote worked on all their receivers. I found out the problem was my Hdmi cable.I guess i had the standard one and Denon demands the Hdmi 2.2 for Tv connection.As soon as connected the Hdmi 2.2 everything started working and i was able to the set up the device..Once again, thanks guys.I am still new to this.God bless

FWIW the hdmi cable is based on bandwidth/speed capabilities, not a hardware designation (which the newest is only 2.1 anyways). https://hdmi.org/resource/cables

Hi did your RC-1240 work with the x4500 once you had changed the hdmi cable? The reason I ask is that I have an avr-x4000 and Denon have confirmed the Rc-1219 will work with it but if the rc-1240 works with your device then they must be transmitting the same codes and I will order the RC-1240 to replace my original remote that is failing. Thanks

Hi. I have just received the latest remote RC-1240 and it fully works with my AVR-X4000 so should work with all Denon models through to the AVR-X4700.
