Hey guys,

I'm planning on getting a SVS PB16-ultra. I am thinking about purchasing 1 for now and adding another later on. I currently have 1 Bic Acoustech PL-200 II.

Question is should I run 2 subs(1 PB-16 and 1 Bic Acoustech PL-200) until I get the other PB-16 or should I just run just the PB-16 and forget about the PL-200?

Or should I just get 2 PB-3000 and call it a day?

If I do go dual subs or dual mixed subs, I was thinking of getting a minidsp right away.

The room opens to the kitchen 17' W x 42' L with 9' ceilings. Not including the kitchen, family room is about 17' W x 17' L with 9' ceilings. MLP is about 15' away from my front stage.

Any thoughts or advice?

I would say definitely not. It only will the bic limit overall performance, but the port tunings and phase responses are vastly different. So, this will lead to cancellations, and poor overall response. Setting up multiple subs is hard enough when they match, let alone when they are WORLDS apart.

I don't think you would even hear the BIC with a Ultra running at the same time

You should contact SVS and give them your Dimensions and room Volume and let them Suggest which Subs to get. I like the Ultra

I think a pair of pb4k’s would be better, but the good thing is, you can find out, and if the 3000’s don’t work, you can trade em in.
I’m usually a buy the biggest sub you can afford, and immediately save for a second one. But honestly, I would probably look at Rythmik or HSU for overall value. SVS does have app control and some built in EQ, but I use a minidsp with audyssey. For others, those features are worth it.

FWIW, the fv18 is only 400 more than the pb3k.

Hell, you can even have TWO HSU
mk2’s for 1749.
Lots of options.
SVS makes great subs, no doubt about it. It’s just that for pure value, they don’t own that market anymore.

I've looked into HSU as well and actually considered them for a bit but I have a buddy that said they can get SVS for lower than retail.

How do you Like that Value Now??? LOL

So you really think SVS offers the same value they always have? IMO, that balance has shifted to other manufacturers. Like I said, they do make excellent subs. But dollar for dollar, they’ve given up their ownership of the pure value arena.
FWIW, I own SVS subs just like you do, and do love them. It if I had 1800 to drop on a sub, it would go somewhere else.
What’s the meme for?

SVS since the New Ownership has changed. Some for the Good, some for the Bad.
Without a doubt they have increased in Price.

But Value is Perceived. When Value Exceeds Cost that's when people will pay more.
Internal Build Quality, Quality of Component Used, Quality of Finish, Customer Service, Sound Quality, Performance, all add up to being one of the best Values in the Audio Industry

Hey! If you ain’t bustin my bolls, I’d think ya didn’t care!!!
I hear ya. Value is definitely perceived by the buyer. Everything you listed is absolutely right on for great value. Possibly the biggest is CS. They are legendary, and it’s one place that I think they’re still #1, and WAY too many businesses should take notes on how it’s done.

I actually might have to get 2 x PC4000s instead due to the small footprint. Ill get one soon and another one maybe a month or 2 after.

I have 2 PB 3000’s and love them. The 4000’s look better, but besides aesthetics, I’m not sure they perform as well as the 3000’s for just value. Good thing about SVS, you can return them, upgrade at any time, they are great. I found mine on the used market, which is always risky. Prior to that I was looking at dual HSU’ VTF- MK3’s. In my research, that might be the best value. If your getting the discount though, it’s definite SVS. They are great, good luck.

Nice! I was originally planning on getting the pb3000s but I was afraid it wasn't enough to pressurize the room. The small footprint of the pc4000 was really appealing to the wife. I shouldn't have told her how big the pb16 ultras were. I was so close on pulling the trigger on those. Biggest mistake was telling her how I was going to move stuff around. Lol
