Hi,

I am planning to setup new home theatre system. Just want to know if there is big difference in getting an Onkyo system HT-S3910 or buy the Sony system DAV-DZ650.

Cost wise getting a Sony system is much economical. I cannot figure out any huge difference specifications wise. All features in HT system seem to be present in Sony system too. So I am in a confused state. Please help with your thoughts.

Regards,
Abram.

The Onkyo system looks a bit better to me, and is just one of their basic avrs (av receiver) with speaker set....the Sony has an all-in-one type receiver that incorporates a built-in optical disc player. The problem with both of these HTIB (home theater in a box) systems is that the quality of the speakers is generally low but the Sony looks to be lacking here more than the Onkyo. I'd source speakers and sub and avr separately.

The answer is neither. You absolutely avoid those HTIB systems. They are a complete waste of money and blow up on a regular basis.
Junk purchases are the most expensive units you ever purchase, and all of those type of systems are Junk!
