Needless to say I feel like crap for testing my omd5 at a high volume. One of the speakers smoked and likely the speak coil is fried.
Anyone has a suggestion on who can repair this speaker? Of course Mirage is no longer around and used ones on eBay are asking way more. Hate to feel the fact that I can't do much.thought I'd ask here.

Came across a site that indicate they repair speakers. Any thoughts on this site or any suggestion

Much appreciated

I'm a little bit confused. You said Mirage is no longer around but I did find a support link here. Unless that's the wrong manufacturer?

What were you using to power your speakers? Was there any distortion before it fried?

Ok..let me elaborate a bit. These are speakers that I bought from my cuz. He bought these from another person and came by to test them out. I have an existing HT set up. Where my Emotiva xpa 5 drives Deftech towers in front, Deftech center, Polk surrounds and Klipsch book shelf rear.
My plan was to replace the Klipsch RM 41 with the Mirage Omd 5. To test out the omd5, I connected it to the front ( as my Deftech towers).
Played a few songs through the speakers and we'll I cranked it up to see how loud it can get. Of course, I wasn't thinking and Emotiva capable of 300w PC surely fried one of them. Could see and smell the smoke coming out of the speaker. I can hear sound but it's scratchy now.
I'd love to repair this speaker.

Thank you for the link. I know mirage was bought by Klipsch and phased out. I did the research online but none gave me the link you shared.

Oh yeah. You fried the poop out of it, lol.

Companies vary of course, but I've had good luck getting replacement drivers warranties even when purchased 2nd hand. I'd contact them and see if they have replacements.

I don't have good news for you.

Mirage had various owners. The last was Klipsch. Mirage was dropped when Audiovox purchased Klipsch.

Now a driver can only be repaired and reconed if there are parts available. I have established beyond a doubt that there are no Mirage parts left.

However I have a strong hunch the drivers were sourced from Tangband.

However there is a problem since if that is so the bass/mid at least is custom. It looks as if the cone and motor in your speakers were fitted into the chassis of a different Tangband speaker that had a bamboo cone. Your speakers are Titanium.

So I do not think your speakers can be repaired.

Those speakers do seem to be selling on eBay however for prices almost exactly the original price. However at the end of the run, Vanns, who are now gone became the exclusive dealer, and sold them for $199.00 each which was less than half the original price.

So eBay is your only choice if you want those speakers back.

I'm not surprised you blew them as I am pretty sure I am correct about the drivers. They only handle 28 watts continuous and 56 watts peak. The drivers may have been customs in other ways, but Tangband looks like the source most likely.
