Is a single 12" sub in a 6th order enclosure louder than 2 12"s in a ported box?

Debating on whether I should start a new project, sell my current 2 woofers. Sell the enclosure they're in. and use the funds to buy an equally powerful sub, which ill build a 6th order around.

Currently running
2-Q12S4 Quinn acoustics subs
SWP212B Dual 12" ported enclosure
Jensen 500X1 AMP
If I were to commit, Id sell all but the amp to buy a SDR-12 Skar 12" sub. Im aware that it would (Probably) perform better across a range of frequencies. But would it be louder at its loudest frequency? Box is currently tuned to 40 HZ. If I hypothetically tuned the 6th order to 40hz and 60 hz. How would the volume compare at 40 Hz? I Could do a parallel or series box depending on the answer. Not concerned about the price of the project, just the peak performance off my little Jensen amp

I'd say the general wisdom here is that 2 is always better than one when it comes to having a smooth response across a larger area. I'd go with a pair of ported myself.
