Do not ignore the antenna for FM reception. Likewise, do not ignore your location with respect to FM broadcast towers. An antenna that's appropriate for your location can transform a seemingly poor performing FM receiver into a good source of audio.

Typically “please do my homework for me” threads don’t get good responses, which would explain why you haven’t received any recommendations yet. You’ll get better response if you do some research and come back with a few options for us to consider.

This OP sounds a lot like a guy who used to come and post these "which is the very best?" questions all the time. He would feign like he owned a bunch of exotic equipment and would want to know which of some very expensive "this one or that?" would be the best way to add to his imaginary system. The AH brethren eventually tired of his game and stopped answering his posts.

@WaynePflughaupt I think you have this post figured out: someone wants his homework assignment done for him. And by asking for FM recievers, it sounds like his homework is about 20 years overdue

Also odd to spend that much on a receiver and then too little on speakers and too much on a cd player....

Both of you sound like an ignoramus! I have spent months researching before deciding to post. I didn't' want to bias anyone with my elementary thoughts on an audio system. That is why I posted in the "Beginners Forum". I thought I would get a discussion started, and get some interesting information that I could learn from and enhance my elementary knowledge. Both of you should be booted out from any forum discussions!!! Get a life. This is a Beginners Forum.

First I' m not taking up for the two that commented on your Thread there big men they can Defend themselves. I will say on AH we get a lot of "what's the best of for this much of money. That in itself is a wide range to cover. But you didn't list any thoughts on what your Interested in what manufacturer? Marantz, Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha, Onkyo, those listed have Two channel Stereo receivers Sony also. Some with and without Sub out some with Bass management. As for the speaker's ', what do you mean by "Hanging Speakers? Bookshelf speakers? or Ceiling speakers? CD player A good 4K UHD player like Sony's UHD BDP-S700 will do nicely for $200 or so. But a little more info would get you a lot of help and members chiming in with Recommendations. But yeah Some of us can be Testy with answers. It's also a way of feeling out one to see if someone it's just trying to start posting up spam links to websites. AH does get Inundated with new members posting up spam links. Think of what your 1st post is asking? Now some would Follow up with a bunch of links to a bunch of gear with prices to websites that just about ever AH member that's be here for years knows all ready. So yeah some members will call out a post as your 1st post. Believe me when I say I have over 40 years in this hobby and I ve been shot down for miss placing a word out of context. Tough it out, Browse other threads look up some of the well Respective members You want to know more about speakers or gear? find PEND, ADTG, Shady J, Look for Gene the Owner of AH, postups on speaker's and audio gear. Go to Forums, Scroll down till you see speakers, check out that Thread. Same for Audio gear you'll find a ton of great Advice and even some links to the Questions you're asking.

No intent to offend, I merely based my post on what I’ve seen in hanging around here for 11 years. Getting rude and testy with the folks offering suggestions is the other way to get no help, and signing up a new account and user name (“esq”) just to get some fake affirmation doesn’t wear well either. All told, you’re batting 1000 in reverse...

Your total comes to $3000. Spend about $1500 on speakers and about $1000 on a Denon receiver. Spend the rest on cables and a good DVD player (they all play CD's).

The no life thing is a forum generated one generated by post count....just like you as audiophyte. You signed up just to make that incorrect observation?

A DVD player is hard to get nowadays. The OP can get a SONY Blu-ray player for $100 which also plays CDs.

Yeah, but is not a cutting edge DVD player from last millennia, never mind a CD player! How can a modern Blu-ray play compete with that silky smooth jittery awesomeness, never mind the platinum credit card?
