Bought new amp need help

I bought a new an amp for my speakers that have a nominal input of 25 watts and the amp has a RNS of 20 watts, and after buying I read that you can damage your speakers by having an amp that isn't as powerful; is there anything I can do other then buy a different amp? I also have a pair of 5 watt speakers but I'm sure the amp would be way to powerful for those.

Your amp is just fine. Just use the volume knob with some care and the speakers will be fine. The speakers do not have a nominal input of 25 watts, there is no such thing as nominal input. Usually speakers have a max input rating, though.

How sensitive your speakers are would be more meaningful when using lower powered amps. Higher sensitivity would be preferred, but not necessary. Like HD said, smart volume control is the number 1 way to avoid blowing stuff up! You can hear when things start to break up and sound bad. That's when you turn it down!

@Pogre and @lovinthehd have you on the right path: you'll be fine.
The ratings on speakers are more useful to you as and end user if you think of them as a max rating from the amp. The only stat that you need be careful of when marrying amps to speakers is to not give your speakers more current than they can handle. The volume knob will tell you all you need to know. Long before there's an electrical problem the sound coming out of the speakers will let you know if you're getting in to trouble. Take it easy with the volume knob and you'll never have an issue.

Thanks. On the back of my speakers it says input nominal 25 watts and doesn't say anything about max power, and when I look up the model number I can't find them (Probably because they are older speakers) so is there any way to find the max power rating?

It's probably just another way of saying a max continuous power rating. If they start to sound bad, turn it down.
