Looking for a good (budget) 2-channel amp to run the 2 front channels in a 7.2.4 setup using the Denon AVR-X3600H (9.2 receiver, but processes 11.2). Have been looking around and wondered about the Monoprice 18514 (https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=18514) 200w 8 ohm amp (the speakers I'm looking at are 135w 6 ohm Pioneer towers).

Any thoughts on this amp? Or any recommendations on another budget 2-channel amp around 100w 8 ohm/135 w 6 ohm?

Thanks!

Daniel

Makes more sense to me to use the Denon to power the fronts and put the smaller amp on the surround speakers or something. Are you planning to use all 11 channels? How big is your room?

Emotiva has a bottom feeder amp line. Also Audio source they can be found on Amazon with a few other bottom feeeder amps like Pyle and a few other’s but I myself wouldn’t use any of those brand of amps. Some do though.

This Crown XLS 1002 wouldn't be bad for the front 2. It has more power than the Denon at 2 ch/8 ohms.

Forgot about those pro amps, they are mentioned all the time on here. Best bang for the coin.

Dan, your budget is ??
As cheap as I can get by, but I'm willing to put in more to get something more quality/reliable. So, just a best budget 2-channel amp that can run the 130w 6 ohm Alpine towers. Thanks!

For around 400 to 500 guessing here there are choices you’d have that Crown amp that Pogre posted up. Emo lower end amps, other than that
you would have to up your coin to 1k, maybe check out Outlaw amps good build good Quality watts per dollar. But again you’ll have to up your coin. Maybe check out used on Ebay or your Local craigslist

The one I linked above does cost more, but it's also twice as powerful as the Monoprice Unity you're looking at. If I were looking for an amp to power my mains I would want something more powerful with 2 channels driven than the Denon. Even if you were to double your power you only gain 3 dB in volume. Check out this SPL calculator.

Just fill in the boxes and click calculate. If play with the power numbers you can see how the relationship between power and sound works. I'd want to come as close to doubling my power for the fronts as possible if I were to get a separate amp. If your budget only allows for the Monoprice amp then I'd use it for surrounds or atmos.

The 3600 is a pretty good avr and I think you did good there. It has a decent amp section in itself and I would just use it for the main speakers unless it's a significant gain in power.

So your running a 7.2.4 setup? you have two Subs? Your 1st post doesn’t Exactly say if you have all that, just said you looking around, so what gear do you have? or you looking to get into Atmos? If so do you have the Source yet? like 4K blu-ray player or 1080 blu-ray player? TV? 4K? or lesser? Budget? Limitless a limited? Room size? A Dedicated HT room? living room where everyone hangs out in?

Maybe the Behringer A800 or the Crown XLS1002. As was said, I'd put a more powerful amp on the mains, that Monoprice I'd put on surrounds.

Yeah I wouldn't call Emotiva bottom feeder, nor Audio Source for that matter. Pyle, yes.

Oh my bad, I had forgot how Emotiva changed the way the world looks at Audiophile amps . Ok their umm Budget line of amps just right above but not below really really Monoprice’s Monolith or Outlaw amps. But yeah Pyle and anything above or in between your good to go.

OK, otherwise it comes across as condescending.
Audio very Subjective, one may look at a car Accident, Police takes Witness statements. walks over to the next witness to take statement of what she saw or in this case a post on a thread on a forum and that Police man gets two totally Different statements from Multiple witnesses. Should I go into a Witness protection program? Better to be Judged by 12 of your peers, than to be carried by six with your friends. :)
